What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This morning my hat of choice is this Grey Heather sold by Delion in Paris, France. Peeking at the tag under the sweatband it appears to have been made by Mossant. Overall the hat is very well made. I especially like how the liner has an iridescent hue to it and changes from a deep blue to a fabulous purple color when the light hits it. I tried to capture this in the pictures best as I could.

Sunday Morning Guerra. I picked this one up in NYC about 20 years ago. It’s suffering from a few moth nibbles. I guess I need to take some advanced insect abatement measures in the hat pile.

I had my Father in law with me today, MGySgt. C.W. Braxton. He turned 100 this past July and never misses an opportunity to get out and about.
He is wearing a J.J. Hats house brand made by Roche. Real nice felt on those hats.

Ahoy Gents,

I can't rightly say that I'm wearing this today, but was wearing it recently in full proper formal Scottish regalia fly plaid and all!

I though that it might be fun and interesting to share with you folks as some of you might have never seen one before. The style of the hat is known as a "Glengarry." Mine is plain solid colour. Others have a checker board pattern on the side and are known as "Diced." The small red pom-pom is known as a "Toorie." The emblem on the side is a crest badge for Clan Campbell. Mine happens to be made by Robert Mackie of Scotland founded in 1845. They were the last traditional all hand made Scottish bonnet makers up until recently. The company still exists, however they stopped making the traditional hats because there were other cheaper hats on the market, and sadly there were not enough willing to pay the extra money for the best. I'm glad that I purchased mine while they were still making them.
