What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I personally like the vertical greases, that breathes life into the jacket, many jackets without creases in the shoulder / chest area look lifeless, uninteresting and often too tight.

Edit: How does jacket look open/un-buttoned?

Fits and hangs fine. Creases ease a bit. It is still a bit stiff in the waist area but is starting to loosen there. I don't have a pic of me wearing it open.

I really love the jacket. Bought it on a whim off Yahoo Auctions/Buyee and it turned into a favourite while custom made to order jackets went for sale. Funny how that works. The slight forward pitch of the arm holes and underarm gussets make it move with me and the wool collar keeps warmth in. I have done yardwork in the jacket many times with zero movement issues.

@Jin431 Thanks for your positive feedback. As the name "battered" already says it has a nice vintage look and it has a very waxy feel (you could also add buttered to battered IMO) which is completely different to any other leathers I've handled so far. Aero describes it as medium weight HH but actually the leather thickness and jacket heaviness isn't different to their CXL HH. If you want something totally different to Badalassi and Horween stuff, go for Aero's battered tan HH as you won't regret it. Right out of the box the leather feels rather stiff and needs some break in time like Horween CXL (Vicenza HH doesn't really need breakin time and Vicenza has a much softer hand and leather is thinner and more medium weight). It's not a new jacket but I unfortunately have worn it 4-5 times so far...I guess I should wear it more often during Spring and Fall.
Thanks for inviting me for a dring in SF - as several of my business partners are located in the Bay Area, I'm sure there will be an opportunity after the C-19 travel restrictions are abolished hopefully in 2021.
Cheers,
Robbie

Thanks for the great feedback, seems like you really like the leather. I'll look into that more. The battered (buttered) tan looks great for sure and will definitely be a consideration if I get something from Aero in the future afternoon I get the tumbled cordovan PHWM. I'm leaning into easier wearing Leathers now though just because it's much nicer to wear, but I do think that thicker waxier Leathers do look better with wear. Hope to see more of your CR in the warmer months.

No problem at all, Hopefully the pandemic gets better soon, we are not doing well here in the CONUS as the rest of the world knows. the new normal is definitely different.

It seems to be the perfect gardener jacket ... just like the british aristocracy does, you let the gardener wear the jacket to the shabby look, then please pass it on to me, LOL! :D

I may not know what jacket I’m wearing today, but I know what I’ll be wearing this Thursday and Friday! I’ll be bringing out the heavy shearling: Aero B3 and ANJ4.

I know JL has always been a good maker but I do notice JL stepping up their game with better construction and more options with the leather they use.
I think you are right about this Jin. There’s definitely been a renewal of energy and purpose at JL and it is awesome to behold.
When I visited them near the end of 2015 they had no Horween leather on hand, nor any plans to purchase any. The jackets on display were all either purpose built motorcycle gear or fairly dull blousons and car coats. I had read great things about them here but what I saw in the shop was rather uninspiring.
When I went back last month it was hard to believe that I was in the same place. Cool cross-zips and half belts were on display and it was clear that they were now creating the kind of jackets that we love here. I had the chance to speak with both Alan and Damon and their enthusiasm for their work was palpable and contagious. Also the hide selection is now very impressive and changing all the time it seems.
Really cool to see where these guys are at now and I feel especially fortunate because they are just across the bay from me.

That's the truth to it. That definitely sums it up very eloquently. It feels like that they (JL) are catering more to the the casuals and the offering is so varied that there's bound to be something you will be interested in especially if you visit the shop. I hope more locals get to discover their services because it's really a gem, it's not common to have a superb custom leather outerwear maker in your own backyard.

In the spirit of the above messages and just the simple fact...I think this might be one of if not my all time fav. I know I’m beating a dead horse with this guy of late but this jacket just feels like a million bucks. I love the versatility of a button front too. Johnson leathers 1920 repro:

This is my favorite of your every changing stable. JL should be getting some orders for this little number.

These Lesco jackets are really incredible, the amount of substantive material they chose for pockets is second to none. These have been the heaviest material I have come across for pockets on vintage jackets. This particular jacket also seems brand new and clean

Yes! JL representing real well! Jacket is a tank in itself. That looks so awesome, can't wait to see how this breaks in

39C ( 102f ) here in Perth western Australia today , necessitating my "coolest" ( temp' wise ) denim trucker.
This Wrangler was a thrift shop find by my daughter , for which I "swapped" her 4 truckers of mine from years back.
( I gave her a black and a blue Levis trucker AND 2 corduroy Levis truckers in different brown/tan shades.)
All 4 were "Too wee" for me now , whereas this Wrangler trucker is almost oversized. From the 90's I suspect.
Perfect for today when you WANT breeze thru' the jacket while on the move.
Even at 110Km/H on our out of town leg the air was like a hair dryer !
Photo at the brekky stop , home by 11am.

I've gotten enough new jackets recently that it's time that I just post a new one without creating a new thread for it.
This is my latest pickup and the most impulsive purchase I think I have ever made.

It's the Freewheelers Lot. 667 jacket in Bullhide suede. This model hasn't been made since 2012 or 2014. Either way it is quite an old model and I was extremely lucky to find it in my size. The measurements seemed perfect for me with fairly short body and sleeve lengths, which are not easy for me to find.

The funny thing is that I never was a big fan of Type III jackets, suede jackets, or denim-style leather jackets. Somehow, this jacket is all three of those things and I loved it from the moment I saw it. Fit is excellent for me. Sleeves are nice and short. I can button this up if I want, but I doubt I ever actually will in practice. I am now back up to 4 Freewheelers jackets in my collection :D

Love the color! The fit is perfect all through out, especially the fit on the shoulders/sleeves/back length. There seems to be a subtle front drop which is very cool to see as most truckers are kind of square. Fantastic find! Great job on the pick up.
