At Target today. Cart full of groceries and I spy this Levi’s Sherpa trucker. Literally the LAST thing I need. Didn’t even stop the cart. Threw it on top of a bag of frozen strawberries and went right to check out. Nice one. Canvas. I dyed it gray. WTF is with these jackets and why do I love them so.

I used charcoal gray Ritt dye. I like that the stitching pops now (as it should on a trucker) and the dye somewhat muted the faux fleece. Hard to tell from the pics.

How did you dye it without staining the sherpa lining???

Yep, looks like it needs a good clean and it's definitely interesting. Like how the back has the half belt without the side adjusters.

I don't think it is going to get much cleaner. Came with a credit card receipt dated 12/26/1970 and a couple of coins from the 60s. Probably not worn much since the 70s. It is marked Genuine Pony with a size 40 tag in a pocket, with sorta a wool lining. Sportime Sportswear 1940s.

It looks good as it is and it's probably good it hasn't been worn as much as it could've been so dirty/stained by now. When you say pony is that also considered horse hide?

i didn’t. The Sherpa turned grayish. I since used polyester dye to make the Sherpa more a chocolate brown.
Does it bleed when you dye a lining?

I call Pony Hide horsehide. I'v had jackets labeled Pony, not sure what the difference is other than the obvious age. Like Calf skin instead of Cow. Some one may have a better answer.
