Excellent finds, all of them, Max. My vote would be ont he MacLachlan though. Love that hat.

As much as I like the European felts (vintage), I find the US hat styles and proportions pretty irresistible. Unfortunately such pieces are very rare here but Brent is such a generous and kind soul (read initiator)

Let's start with the twenties.

Knox twenty, camel with cav edge View attachment 187953 View attachment 187954 View attachment 187955 View attachment 187956

Crown 12 cm at dent , brim at 7cm. Hand is wonderful.

Second.
Dobbs twenty, chocolate brown with cav edge

View attachment 187957 View attachment 187958 View attachment 187959
Crown at 11.5cm at dent, brim at 7cm.

Other than some minor stains on the liner or the wax paper both hats are in pristine condition.

A vintage electric hat stretcher (fully functional) that was found in the local market is shown

Thanks Brent !!!
Panos

Knox Foxhound arrived today

That's a great ribbon on that one! It adds some real nice texture yet keeps it classic looking.

Thanks! Just a few months ago the "collection" consisted of just a couple of pieces and now...well let's say it's growing dangerously fast

Green Dobbs *** Prince. It is greener than it looks in the pics. Very soft, velvery felt.

Max,
Now I'm curious about this hat. Could this be the hat that Idgie (?) wore in the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes?" Nice piece.

Black Stetson 3X Beaver Fedora Selv-edge Hat with Black Grosgrain Ribbon and Feather
Quick question (and yes, it's a size 7).... there is a particular name for this brim (1-3/4") that I found and can't recall where and what it's called. Any idea? It's in great condition, but it was wedged in with others and the grosgrain needs steaming. Anything else I should know about this piece? Many thanks.

You probably mean "snap brim" aka "stingy brim"

A snap brim is something different then a stingybrim imo. You can also have a big brim snap down if you want. A stingy brim is just a small brim.

After a LONG wait to find a big enough body for the hat I wanted, Michael Gannon created this one for me. It's a beaver mid-weight, natural felt with matching brim binding and a vintage "slate" ribbon. I am exceptionally pleased with this hat. More in the MC Gannon thread for those who are interested.

It doesn't look like it's the same shape, although the felt looks velvety and soft, like the one in a *** Prince.
She sure is cute!

I've got a Toronado by Stetson that looks just like yours...

[Pat Kindermann]

Hi,
I like how you photographed that. Unique.
It does look like mine. Does your have the name inside, Tornado? Would love to use a hat name.
Gee, one minute I look at mine and think it's brown, the next Black. I think I better it outside
Thanks for your help.

I think it's stingy brim. You are a rock star. Thanks.
