Post New Hats Here!

[deadlyhandsome]

Not many fans of boaters, but plenty who like the look. Again, I can feel a boater revival coming [emoji4]

I agree about the revival. It’s a nice style to work into the summer rotation. That Panama boater Stefan found for you is outstanding!

Wait til you see me wearing it [emoji6]
Meanwhile, here's a boater from back in the day. Apologies for the repost repost [emoji4]

You're wearing that one great, and between the mint shirt and gold pocket kerchief I don't expect to see you in white trousers and a red striped jacket any time soon.

$14 Resistol (maybe Eddie Bauer?) I just picked up.

Well, you live and learn. I've been doing well lately out of Facebook Market Place until this one, which arrived today.
The seller said it was a 58. He was looking at the small label with 58 on it. Not being a hat guy, he didn't know what the 4 1/2 meant on the proper label.
Note to self - ask for a photo next time.

It's still an okay Hückel. The "flexible" on the liner refers to it not being as stiff as a normal Bowler. This one wouldn't protect any land workers on an estate [emoji4].

Maybe I can tempt one of my daughters to wear it.

Looks to be in pretty good shape otherwise.

Thanks Randy, it is and that's why I'm disappointed. I want it to fit.
Ah, well, back in the saddle for the next hat fix [emoji4]

A nice looking bowler, Steve, and too bad it doesn't fit you. Can't say I really blame the seller though, because to me it looks mislabelled. Can't see a 4 1/2 size on the label, just the W.4 1/4 (which could mean it's a quarter sized hat).

JHS used 1/4 Point Sizes with Stiff Felts and Top Hats.

Steve, Super! Sorry about the size.

I don't blame the seller either, Stefan. Not his fault at all. Hard to see a size wherever.

Thanks, Steve. It is a nice hat. I think it's Hückel's attempt at reviving the Bowler back in the 50s. A softer, lighter, more malleable weight for the post WWII era.

My new hat from Panama Hats Direct in Ecuador is being made.
Here is a picture of it in progress. Its still in Ecuador. Its a super fino with a 1.9" brim and a gambler crown.

Does anyone know what method of shipping they use once it reaches Georgia?

Steve, Your hat is probably from the 1930s. It's definitely pre 1940. Please post it in the German Austria thread when you have a chance.

That is interesting Steve, thanks. I didn't think it was that old. I thought when I saw the liner it could be 30s. When it came, I believed otherwise. It's very lightweight and not of the same quality as the two 1920s/1930s bowlers I have.
I'll definitely post it on the German/Austrian Hats thread. I was going to yesterday, but got sidetracked.

Steve, I am not sure what you mean by quality.

[Steve1857]

Steve, I am not sure what you mean by quality.

Steve, it's the thinness of the felt that makes me question the quality. In all other aspects it's a top notch Wegener. I've never seen such a thin, maleable felt on a pre 40s Bowler. Perhaps it's because I haven't seen enough of them.
I've posted in the German/Austrian thread.
Looking forward to your input. Appreciate it.
