My first *******. Unlined and delightfully thin and moldable felt. The hat is in wonderful condition other than an area around the circumference of the crown above the ribbon. The discolored area/stripe is even all the way around. Curious.

Nice score!

The coloring is likely due to another hat being stacked on top, therefore the top part of the crown was left unexposed to sun/air.

Awesome hat!! Discoloration is likely from the sweat of a hat stacked on it........oil, dye and acids from the leather (not to mention the human oils and acids we add to the sweat when wearing a hat) will do all manner of interesting things when exposed to a hats felt.
Often when you peek inside a hat behind the sweat.....you will see the same result to the inside felt! Therefore, whenever you stack hats, stack safe, and use a hat condom!
Again, awesome hat great find! No one but you will see the discoloration when you are wearing it! You just get ready for the compliments!

It came in a period correct hat box complete with all the innards so I’ll forgo the hat condom for now.
