The listing says it is from the 40s. I think it has to be from before the 50s, because after that all you get is narrow brims in Game Birds.

Yes it is. I got it bass-ackwards.
I'm not usually a fan of felt ribbons, associating them with some of those awful 60s and 70s styles, but mine has an almost identical ribbon as yours. I left it that way and it grew on me. Now I have that and an Imperial with a felt ribbon and I've left them both. You might like it better in person.
I did change out a felt thin ribbon on one of my Daltons a couple of years ago for a mid-ribbon and (IMHO) it vastly improve it, though. YMMV
