Chores this morning in a vintage Stetson Whippet. This hat has the larger 2 7/8 brim. I big rake and the swwop of the snapped brim give the hat some big dimensions. I like that the hat has attitude. Underbrim shot gives true felt hue.

Today I opened the French box of black hats
Some of them are elegant evening hats, not very suitable for the modern world

The felt is very soft with a shiny short-haired finish.

The shape is that of a "diplomatique" with reduced proportions and the thin edging of the brim. Fantastic the bow

Thanks, the sweatband has no imprints, so I’m guessing it has been replaced. But not in the last 40 years it’s been in my possession.

Staying with the European tour this week, back to Italy. Rain and bluster in Oregon, needed something that would not catch the wind. Borsalino, early 60s style with a slim brim in Mirtillo. This hat is what all the cool guys were wearing in 1962. Liner has some brylcreem damage, but that just sets the mood.
