Post New Hats Here!

[Dlaniger]

A totally whimsical hat purchase!
Down in South Philly shoe shopping with my Father in Law when we ran across a small, modern chic, stingy brim, hat and cap shop. They had a couple of things that caught my eye, so here we go!

Apart from a roaming tipsticker, this one was in mint condition.

Lovely bowler, hopefully it won't end up on Ebay with a $300 buy it now in a couple days.

Went estate sale-ing today and scored these:
Stetson Featherweight

Hat is near mint condition, I doubt it was worn more than a few times, original box

I think Roaming Tipsticker would be the perfect name for the group that collaborates on the Fedora Lounge Theme Song.
Just sayin'...

Incredibly lightweight, and just all around beautiful hat.

This is a sweetheart! Is it totally white or does it have some grey in it. Wow!

I came home to a postal "haul", two big boxes! Pics tomorrow of a pristine Portis "The New Slant" and a not so pristine, very old Dunstatter (?) derby. I'm stoked about the Portis, it is light as a feather and looks NOS.

Stetson "The Avenue" bower. Came with a Disney box and two page scan of the previous owners passport. His name is also inscribed in the liner.

Also a dingy Stetson "Select Quality" hat.

I am always interested in the variations of the Stratoliners here on the lounge. Colors and liners, or the lack of, are all over the place. I should spend more time on the Strat Thread. I think a true vintage Strat will be my next holy grail.

This is really cool! To have such provenance for a hat is truly special. That "extra" hat is no slouch either. From the same owner?

I snagged this one on a BIN without hesitation. Portis "The New Slant", tissue weight, very sporty and almost NOS. Not worn much if any. The seller said it was from Granpa's Attic, still in the box. The liner is very 50s Manly-Man styled with graphics of all the activities you should be doing in this hat. Nice and light (4.1 oz) with medium stiffish felt that is very smooth. Special brim stitching. I'll have to pad under the sweat a little, plenty of room as it is a size up from 7 1/4.

I'm not a "bowler" kind of guy...... but I covet that Disney box! Nice score on all of it , Tonio.

That's an amazing hat , Red! Portis made a fine hat.... yours is a great example! Excellent.

Thanks, yes it's great to be able to see who wore the hat! His occupation is listed as a clergyman which is also interesting. I did I quick initial search and his name is listed in a couple of books.

The other hat was not his, found separately.

I got this Knox Fifteen with box last week. It's always a welcome surprise when a hat turns out to be far nicer than it looked in photos.

[Tonio]

Oh boy that Knox is nice. Love the color.

That is so wonderful to have with the derby. The hat is really special also. I wonder if the three (**x) minor children are around still. They would be in their 90s.

Sweet! That is a nice one, any indications under the sweat as to age?

Nice find, Red! Gorgeous Portis!
