Post New Hats Here!

[Strapped-4-Cache]

Cross-posting from the WHAYWT thread. Received this Resistol western at the office on Friday while I was out.

Trying to decide on options for a new band and shape of the crease. Not sure I want to keep the horsehair band or the square telescope crease, but they might grow on me.

Estate sales does not exist here...

So what happens to their stuff?

Opened the box with these hats (one straw & two Homburgs) a couple of weeks ago, but not had the chance to post pics and re-learning also how to post pics! (Thanks RJR & Buler).
Florentine hat size 57 approx. (not sure what other thread to post this hat in - advice please).

Lock & Co. London black Homburg

[se couvrir]

Borsalino Grey Homburg Castoro (Beaver). Gorgeous soft felt and quite unique I think.
Will post the Lock and this one in Homburg Nation when time allows.

Amazing scores...maybe post the florentine in the Italian brands thread. Or you could send it to me and I will!

[moehawk]

On second look, try FL googling Tesi to see if they already have a thread. I believe they make hats for other Italian names.

Some very nice acquisitions, se couvrir. They are all beauties, but the Milan is especially so.

[Bushman]

I found this Stetson Chatham at a thrift store for $20 a while back. I haven't had many chances to wear it, but I really like it. I kind of want to get one in the caribou color too.

I got a Chatham in caribou. It's by far my favorite hat.

[Hurricane Jack]

A few months ago I set out to find a bowler as my beard grew to Victorian length. I wanted to go easy because I wasn't sure how I would like the way it would look. I ended up with this Dobbs in black and like it a lot. I have worn it to a couple of living history events and have had several nice comments. I would like to add a bowler in a light gray or aluminum color to my collection.

Late last winter I acquired my first vintage Homburg, a Dobbs Golden Coach. I have a camel tan full length coat that it matches perfectly.

[DesertDan]

That is a great looking Homburg HJ!

[moehawk]

Nice Golden Coach! Not sure which is wilder...the hairdo on mine (upthread just a bit) or the ribbon on yours. Gotta love the late 60's and 70's.

[Hurricane Jack]

Thanks DD & Moehawk. I really liked the faded stripe on the ribbon & edge binding. It really sets the camel tan off, I think. Being a Golden Coach it is very soft to the touch, almost like cashmere. But it has body to it unlike a crushable.

Moehawk I really like the aluminum color of your long hair.

Nice ribbon and biding on this one!

Looking good
Can't see the horsehair band.
Are you going to keep it or is just for a costume?

The concept of estate sales does not exist here, there are companies that buy out everything that it's on the house.
But usually things get dumped on the trash or given to charity (mainly clothing), furniture is sold to people that rebuilds/restore them.
House appliances is in good condition usually replace the bad ones of heirs or in trash or donate do people that need them.
Never heard of an auction on someones items because of the death of their owner.

Interesting how that works out.

One of the hats I never show to the Loungers.
It was a recent acquisition
Panizza Ediston size 60 cm. (US 7 1/2 inches)

It was made in Ghiffa - VCO Piedmont region on the border of the Lago Maggiore

Very slightly worn it is one of the best hats made in Italy before the downsizeing of the classical hats producers

The felt is incredible in touch and finishing.
