I've refrained from adding youtube.com to my favorites since I'm trying to get/maintain a life.;)

Ha, ha, ever since that cartoon thread, I've been hitting youtube hard. I watched like two hours of cartoons one night without even realizing it. Glad I'm not the only one.

One day at a time. So far today I have resisted. But the Lounge is failing to hold my attention...

As I should really be doing my annual accounts and tax return for 2005 YouTube is looking very tempting...

just one shot and then sweet oblivion....

that Aerosmith meets Gable is bizarre! But at least there's no distraction (people talking) from gazing in wonder at Clark's fantastic wardrobe.

Cash's guitar player Luther perkins was notorious for both his stage shyness and minimalist technique! In fact none of them were particularly good players and it was their limitations that produced that incredible stark sound.

When the trio originally got together they all played rhythm guitar. Realizing this wouldn't do Luther got an electric and tried to do lead and Marshall Grant got a bass...when they recorded for Sun they were little more than beginners.
But the sound they came up with was awesome.

Jake!! I nearly fell of my chair laughing at Apache. The essence of the early 70s distilled into 4 minutes! Never has that Shadows classic sounded (or looked) so dire.

And now - for you delectation and delight - let me present my current hoot of the minute.

some great stuff there Salv. I should have done a search on Louis Jordan days ago! He was king of the Soundie (and of a lot else!)

The stooge in Beware may only be a cameo but he's definitely a candidate for the "great cissy actor" thread!

I spent last night finding versions of Dark Eyes, one of my favourite swing fiddle pieces, and THE anthem of European gypsy jazz. Some crackers here, but be warned, most of them are MODERN (shock horror). But anyone with the slightest interest in European string jazz or the guitar should at least check out no 1, which features 5 of the worlds best jazz guitarists jamming for around ten minutes.....

A neat tie-in with a recent thread, which had a film clip of some scary, bendy sisters singing Cow-Cow Boogie (sadly now removed by request of Warner Brothers) - here's that same song sung by Ella Mae Morse - sorry about the would-be hipster, B-movie actor in the first couple of minutes.
