WWII - "Fly Boy" Re-enactment

Hello all,

First of all my name is Francisco and im from Portugal.
Sorry to be asking questions just from the get to but i have a bit of a trouble and i was wondering if anyone would be able or willing to give me a hand.
I've been "dragged" into one of those re-enactment airsoft events with a WWII theme and having absolutely no "will" whatsoever to play the friendly next door Kraut i was turning into the Brit/US side.
And seeying as they are all airborne infantry (horray for the very original idea) i started to think of going in a different prespective ... to play the WWII pilot, cause in the end they'd always need a pilot (One that lever lands the plane and always forces people of a perfectly good airplane) that is always shot down (This is not very flattering :p).

So my point is ... is there anyplace i can find a "database" of all the items that i'd require either to play RAF / US ocasional pilot to help me with this cause i look for WWII Pilot and i see a lot of pretty pictures and nice uniforms and really no idea what to search so i can buy it.
I do hope i have placed this topic in a place that is not the wrong one.

Regards,

Francisco

Don't know if I understands you right, but are you looking for refference pictures - or are you looking for a place, where you can actually buy all the stuff. And do you have some uniform part allready?

The easy way out might be going for a US pilot.
That way you might get around it in a pair of chinos, a khaki shirt and maybe a A2 leather jacket and a cap.
If you want to go as a RAF pilot, I suggest you look at What Price Glory.
They sell battledress jackets and trousers, officers caps etc.

It all depends on how much you allready have - and how much you are willing to spend.

Hi Francisco! Welcome! We all started out the same way in many regards - became interested, bought a hat, saw some pictures, found some boots, a pair of khakis, etc, etc, etc. Don't spend a lot right away - if you find it is your thing later you can begin to collect some pieces in earnest.

I would always suggest eBay - find a crusher cap or an overseas cap to start and leather 'flight' jacket. With those two items you can wear Khaki shirt and trousers and some lace up boots and you've got a "look". Authenticity can be added as time goes on with proper uniform shirt and trouser or a flying suit. There are lots of reproduction boots, jackets, hats, and insignia out there as well.

If you need specifics, perhaps we can direct you to websites that we use ourselves.

There's a chap on eBay has some stuff that looks good, I've seen him sell RAF and USAAF bits - BarryLyndon28 . I believe a few folks on here have bought from him and been pleased with what they got. According to his eBay shop, he is based in Canada but the items are drop-shipped from Singapore.

Keeping it within the EU, have a look at http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/reenactors/select.asp - they cary a lot of WPG stuff, and as they are based in the EU (UK), you can be sure you won't be hit by any import duties. They don't do RAF Battledress (maybe they might be able to get it in for you?), but they'd be good for the USAAF stuff.... for a Summer event, you could get away without the A2, IMO....

Thanks all for the replies,

Since this is something only due in the middle of this year i still have a bit of time to buy things that are "good" and dont rush into any stupid deals or being forced to make buys on the spot.
My actual biggest concern is actually to portray the fighting people of that time in a correct way, god knows they've earned the world's respect.
I look at movies and documentaries and i see all sorts of toons that either look good like the outfits of pearl harbour and never know if the outfit is right ... and yes i dont give a care if Kate Beckingsdale is right at the time ... she looks good always.
Anyways joking put to an end i really have a hard time to track the items since i dont know what to look for ... the A2 Jacket that part i already got but are there any specific items that one should bring into the equasion ?
Right now im even looking at a nice pair of grips for the 1911 toy :)

Thanking all the help in advance

If you are doing a "downed pilot" scenario you might want to look towards flight "gear" instead of dress uniforms. To add to what was already said I'd suggest a flight suit (coveralls) You could do a shoulder holster to hold an airsoft .45.
