WTB: Lost Worlds Jacket 40-42

Messages

Too large. Friend owns the same jacket in size 44 and I need a 42 for a good fit, could even go 40 for snug fit. Besides, seller above asks like 950 USD starting bid, which is absurdly much for a used LW in given condition. I have seen new, shiny and unworn LWs go for considerably less.

When you spot another LW for less, please post in the Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition thread. I see a few here and there but any help is appreciated. I'll keep a look out for one in your size.

Ordering new from Stu effectively costs me more than 2000 USD due to high shipping costs overseas and 25ish % customs fees. I'm not in such dire need of a jacket to drop that kind of money. :D

I sympathize with you. I've just ordered a 42 R LW Courier Pea Coat in Goatskin (1595.50$ USD) which cost me 2161.58$ Canadian dollar. I still have to pay about 20% of custom fees. So at the end of the day, it will have cost me 2500$, about 1 grand extra. Now is it worth the 1 grand extra? BTW the Courier it is not really a Pea Coat, but an overcoat, see my posts in red devil's thread
https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/lost-worlds-courier-peacoat-in-black-deerskin.97145/page-2. In any case, the Courier is my army retirement gift to myself after more than 30 years of service (regular and reserve). I guess it's OK to splurge now and then.

Definitely ok to splurge after such service. Congrats on the retirement, well-earned I am sure.

That's a lot of money the seller is asking, that goes without saying but TBH I haven't seen a popular model such as a J-23/4 being sold for dramatically less, especially not in the EU. Shame it's too large, in any case. Stunning jacket. And the fur collar and all...

The coat is an excellence choice, particularily fitting for the occasion, considering the styles military roots. Interesting choice you made there with the goatskin, but I guess you already own enough LW jackets made from horsehide to allow for some variation :D

Yep, I'd LOVE for someone to post an LW J-23/24 for dramatically less than $950. If it's in my size, I'd buy it.

It has the belt as well, Stu charges a fair old wodge of cash for a belt. If I didn't have the Model E I'd be very tempted.

As you rightly pointed out, I already have a BK HH Peacoat (a 3.5 oz Rebelstoke with a semi-aniline finish). Stuart told me that his Black Goat is 3-3.5 oz. and heavyweight. He added that it is a "wonderful leather". He did not recommend 4.0 - 4.5 HH "due to the mass and the graceful curvature, exceptional detailing and double-breasted drape and fit of the Courrier Pea Coat". I also thought that Goat would drape better and would be more appropriate for this particular design. Hence my choice of Goat. Now my next purchase will probably be a LW classic Peacoat in Navy Blue Horsehide, 3-3.5oz. I will order it as soon as I get my Courier. Not sure about the lining though. A Camel lining is 20% extra. The Navy Blue HH is 20% extra. I am inclined to go with the Red Aviator pure Nylon Satin, same as my Courier. Any suggestions?
