Looking for a coat like the tough guys wore growing up in The Village and Little Italy in NYC in the 60s, and 70s.

Something like this:

Doesn't have to be anything fancy, or expensive, just not too cheap looking lamb.

I have an Aero Veste de Rallye size 46. Black.
Cool, I hadn't looked at that. Would you be kind enough to prove measurements, leather, any pertinent
info. 46 is actually big for me, but I often have to size up to get the 27" sleeve that I need. It is a loose cut to begin with, so a little more loose may work.
Thanks.

That one's lambskin, but Wested is great on customizations, so they'd probably make it in goat or cow (and custom sizing if you need it, changing the pockets, etc.) for only a little more.
Yeah, the 60s though guy style it is. I saw this a while ago, but forgot about it. Thought it might be costume cr#p. Don't know the company. Price is certainly reasonable. I like goat, might work. Any idea how bad their lamb is? Thanks a lot of the tip! I will contact Wested.

The 46 Veste de Ralley fits like a size 50, it has like 28" pit to pit.

Their lamb is fine. I've had one of their lambskin Raiders jackets for 15 years, and I got my son one of their lambskin blouson jackets last year. But you know... it's lambskin: it's thin, drapes beautifully, and feels luxurious... but it's a bit more fragile than other hides. I once tore my Raiders jacket and needed a repair - see my post in this recent thread:

http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/peter-botwright-wested-leather-rip.91919/

I'm sure this jacket would be equally nice, and a lot more substantial, in goatskin or cowhide...

Regarding "costume crap", it's true that they are literally mainly a movie/TV costume shop, and their stuff isn't military/motorcycle jacket tough. But the materials and construction quality are very good for the price. My Raiders jacket - apart from that repair - has held up great through long years of wear: the leather, lining, seams, and hardware are all still solid.

I have a couple of vintage ones from the period, various makers. Brown and I think burgundy or like a reddish brown. I can post some photos if you like.
Sure, that would be great. I'm still leaning towards black if you find anything. Thanks.

Johnson Leathers has a very nice coat that completely fits what I am looking for. Al said he could make one for me in Black goat that
based on the quality of his products seemed a reasonable price. Just trying to go a little cheaper, without buying the dreaded "Mall" jacket.

Slow at work today, so I was looking around online and found this outfit:

Anyone ever heard of them?

A couple of their styles fit the memory I am looking for.

Al Pacinno Insomnia.png

Don't know how they could have found a worse picture of Pacino from the move Insomnia. Also :

Donai Logue, Gotham.png

Really like this jacket worn by Donai Logue, in the TV series Gotham, though I don't know if I can quite pull off such large lapels. I know this is pretty silly stuff compared to the usual high end vintage and repro TFL stuff.

Please humor me, I'm just having fun. :)

Thanks!

I have the Johnson Leathers version in black. It's fantastic and I wear it a lot.

Some call these a Guido jacket, don't they? I'm not from the US so I'm not sure if that expression is appropriate.

You can get plenty these on eBay for under $100 - I'd go for a black Cooper Sportswear version, 1970's with wide lapels and much better looking than the Mars version which is a copy of a 1970's English leather blazer with a more delicate and European vibe to it.

Wested made the Indiana Jones jacket for the movie and make a bunch of film TV jacket copies in reasonable quality.

Here's a burgundy one that I happen to have. Should fit well if you're a Large.

Looks very nice. Still have black in mind, but it is an interesting style. A little fancier than the tough guys of my youth wore, but I guess I could expand my horizons a bit. What is it? What Measurements, especially sleeves? How much?
Thanks for thinking of me.
Let me know. PM or otherwise.

The guys I hung out with were not into anything delicate, to say the least. Still looking for an eBay for under $100 - black Cooper Sportswear version. Thanks!
