World's Most economical pocket square...

About a year ago I decided to start wearing a pocket square. I went to one of the box stores near me (it was either Joseph Banks or Men's Wearhouse, I actually don't remember now) and picked up a few different colors. But, they aren't cheap. So I asked the clerk if he had a 'pinwheel' type scarf with several colors on it so I can buy one, rather than having to buy one red, one pink, etc. He said no such thing existed. I told him I remember my father having one. The clerk then told me I was an idiot (not really that harsh but..), no such thing exists or ever existed b/c shop owners wouldn't want the consume to buy one scarf, they would rather the consumer spend his money on each seperate color, and how stores would be out of business, etc. So anyway, when I was visiting my mother, I searched for and found this among my father's things:

This was my father's scarf and he would fold it to whichever color would compliment his wardrobe for that day, and shove it in his pocket. I have no idea how old it is. My mother doesn't remember. Maybe from the 60's? 70's? The 50's? I don't know, but it is pretty wicked cool.

I have only seen one other; one of my fellow New Sheridan Club members has one that belonged to his grandfather (given relative ages, I would guess probably 1940s). Similar, at least - it has only eight panels, though, if memory serves, lacking the middle piece on yours. Given the informal folds I tend to prefer I don't think this would work for me on a day to day basis (that and I take far too much pleasure in selecting from a range of different accessories), but one of these would be fantastic for a 'capsule wardrobe' while travelling.

And the shops that sold the ones you're talking about: certainly almost all of them are out of business now!

Why would they be out of business now? I hope they aren't. That is just a brilliant idea. It does not completly replace all other squares since there are some things this one can't do
