Who looks the most dapper in a modern hat?

So often I see wonderful vintage lids or custom lids on people's heads. However, with no offence to those who wear custom lids, it doesn't take much to make them look good as hatters like Art Fawcett are experienced in making hats to suit people.

However, to wear a mass produced hat and look good doing so takes more style in a way, as you have to take what you are given rather than choose what you are given. I realise it's highly subjective and opinionated but who would be nominated as looking the most stylish in a modern factory produced hat? Here's the chance to credit those who look good in their Akubras, Hatco-Stetsons, Biltmores etc.

I hope this sort of thread is permitted, however I got the idea from a thread on who has the best avatar.

Note the suave, nonchalant expression.

I hope Atticus doesn't mind, but I thought these two photos he posted in the Stylemaster pic thread were two of the best I've seen in awhile. I can't really say that I think he looks dapper (or that the word dapper is even a part of my vocabulary) but two sharp photos nonetheless. Stylish and natural looking for sure.

And Herzen - on me, no. On you, it does look sharp.

My attempts, using the new Biltmore Senator (steel gray porkpie):

Photos taken using the old hold-camera-at-arm's-length-and-use-mirror-to-see-screen trick.

Not sure others would agree, but I like how it looks.
Looks pretty good. Not many people (IMO) can pull off the brim-up look without looking silly. You do it very well.

That's what I meant by this thread - for us to nominate others like you have done.

Good thread idea. It's not something we celebrate enough. II'm more of a custom hat wearer, but there's plenty of love to spread around.
Custom hats will always outrank off the rack, no matter how good the latter are. But more style is needed to make an off the rack hat look as good as a custom hat IMHO.

Just a comment on the above statement. If you are lucky enough to live in an area close to a quality hat-store, then the above is NOT true at all. I'm walking distance to Byrnie Utz in Seattle, and believe me, these folks can look at you, listen to you, then fit you in something off the rack that you will look good in, and that will suit your style. I've bought four hats from them in the last year, and while I've upgraded two with higher-quality vintage hats, the two I wear suit me perfectly. In fact, regarding one of them, when we settled on a model and color, he brought out ALL four that he had in that size, and we tried each on several times before deciding on which one fit the best.

Of course, there's the caveat I mentioned above...IF you are lucky enough...

Also, I think that some of the shots in this thread rival anything we've seen in vintage hats - several amazing photos - Herzen, to start. And that hat jtl's wearing looks as good on him as any of the 100x quality vintage hats I've seen him in.

Great photos, folks!
