Which Aero A2

Hello gents,

It's that time when autum/winter is on the horizon and true to form, I start thinking of the new leather that will end the search, this time it's an A2.
I've been close to pulling the trigger on a Bronco in russet or seal jerky HH which I was measured for in Galashields but as per usual I am second guessing myself.

My concern is how it will fit. My understanding is the Bronco is a slim jacket and when in Gala the girl suggested a size 46 for my 43 inch chest and a 27" drop for my 6'3 height. I am fine with the drop, it's the chest measurement that worries me. I weigh in at 102kg (225lb) and of a large build. I don't consider myself fat but I'm knocking on the door and im worried the cut of the Bronco might leave me looking a little sausage like.

What do you think and if you feel a Bronco is not right for me, which pattern would you suggest?

Regards

Flashy

I see your issue - I'm an inch shorter than you and 20 kilos (45 pounds) lighter so I'd say you have a big frame. I can generally fit a 44 so for you a 46 is surely on the very slim side? But I guess the professionals know their sizing. What's your normal pit to pit in a ideal fit and how does it compare to the A2 you've been recommended?

The 1756 is a nice fit too. Slim, but not as 'tubular' as the Bronco. I sized up to a 38, as it's got quite high arm holes.

I am 6'2" and 185 lbs. 41.5" chest and 37" waist and wore a size 44 Aero Bronco that was snug and could easily have worn a size 46. I suspect a size 48 might be a safer bet for you? As I've said before, a jacket slightly too big big will make you :) but a jacket slightly too small will make you :(

Hi, flashy. I purchased a bronco in seal from aero leather some years ago and the girl I spoke to by email ,( I think her name was amanda) suggested that I go up a size ,which I did. When it arrived i did feel it was slightly too big but as it broke in it did conform to my body shape and it is now my daily wearer . They are a very tough jacket and will last you a life time and very well made but not the most accurate replica A-2 . They sent mine with the wrong collar and pocket snaps.

Amanda was at Aero during the Lauder era, moved on since. Fwiw, Ken has redone all the A2 patterns since 2012, and they're now chasing vastly higher levels of accuracy.

I do hope that's true, I was put off buying any other jackets from them because of the inaccuracies on the bronco
