+1I have a couple like that, myself. Methinks it would need re-flanged. Like most things of this nature with my hats, I've taken the "meh, don't worry about it" approach.

Wow! What a transformation. You continue to impress me!This Resistol Stagecoach is going to end up being a conversion of some sort. I don't know what to do with the brim yet. I was thinking of making it a Safari hat and not have to trim the brim, or do the unthinkable and trim the brim down to 2 3/4 and flange it to a fedora. Whatever I decide this will end up being a pretty nice hat, even after I lost my patience with it in the early going and threw it in the trash. I'm limited on tools and I'm limited on the $$$ to buy what I need, so, I get frustrated when it doesn't come out just right. I was finally able to work it on two different make shift blocks to bring the crown height from 6 1/4 inches to 5 3/4 inches, plenty tall enough for a fedora, IMO. Took some work, some imagination, and a lot of cussing, but I finally got the crown where I wanted it. I'm going to have to dig up some ribbon from somewhere, this one is an old salvaged ribbon that I just laid on the hat to see what it would look like....when I decide what to do with it I'll post the final results in the conversion corral...any suggestions for the brim? Trying to make a decision. I already penciled in Joao for not trimming it.
Bashing a hat.

Checking the inside of the hat for symmetry as I'm creasing. On the head. Still a work in progress until I decide on what to do with the brim
Thank you, Red.Wow! What a transformation. You continue to impress me!
TJ, I like the brim just the way it is. You have the size & stature to carry it off.Still a work in progress until I decide on what to do with the brim
That's a nice one, Red. I'd love to get hold of another Nutria. Nice felt.My contribution today is the Barbisio nutria Homburg. I could not resist a "mullet-burg" treatment on this one. This felt is so smooth and clay like that it begs to be played with. This shot is early in it's transformation, when it arrived earlier in the week. It looks a fair bit better today, I'll post and update to this work in process. View attachment 67305 View attachment 67306
Thanks, HJ. I'm going to wear it around some today and see how I like this brim width. I was checking out some pictures on Bob's, (BSHW), site. I saw a couple of wide brimmed safari style hats he made. They were nice, and he had another one on FB, too, that I liked. Something I'm keeping in mind. Of course, there's also the classic fedora style like the custom I had made from Mike Miller at NW.TJ, I like the brim just the way it is. You have the size & stature to carry it off.

I might help you with that...I'd love to get hold of another Nutria. Nice felt.
Tell me more. I'd love to have another nutria.I might help you with that...
Don't know which I love more in this pic! Oh wait, a hat, that trumps cruller, and a Schoble cinches it.Still life with cruller and Schoble.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
I have one in tan I don't wear. For me, the problem is the 3 1/4" brim that you seem to be OK with. I recall it being a bit low crown and a bit stiff.Tell me more. I'd love to have another nutria.
That's a damned fine job, Mike!My contribution today is the Barbisio nutria Homburg. I could not resist a "mullet-burg" treatment on this one. Original sweatband was rotting and probably needs a new one. I need to dig my box pile since I don't wear it for a year or so.
A trade may work.
I'll post pictures this week. You have pictures of it?
