I am interested in the Half Belt design. As I read through the posts I see references to "1930's" and "1950's" half belt designs. What are the differences?
Does Aero make both? What other manufacturers to consider?

I particularly like the look of the Surrogates/Tony Nowak halfbelt with the button cuffs. Is this available currently?

Thanks,
H

The Nowak jacket is based off the 30's HB design.

The price is now ~$900 and can be custom made if you call Tony's shop.

Hi,

the main difference between the 1950s and 1930s Halfbelt is the fit. The 1950s HB is more relaxed in fit whereas the 1930s is a trim and close fitting jacket with narrow sleeves, high armholes and a slightly waisted body.
The 1930s HB also features button cuffs vs american style cuffs with inside storm cuffs. There are also some differences in the back configuration. Straight yoke, curved yoke, one piece back, action back.... See for yourself:

If you look at Aero's quality of leather, lining, thread and overall workmanship I don't think 900 Dollars for a pre-distressed cowhide jacket are justified...

No. The Nowak is based on a 1940's Californian Sportswear original, but in a 1950's, larger and longer cut. On Willis the Nowak is a longer and broader item than any 1930's HH jacket.
