Yes, rubberized canvas, the original material invented by Charles Macintosh
I've tried a Macintosh but I sweat too much to wear anything rubberized. I grew up wearing rubberized sailing slickers and it was murder.

well they can start to smell like burning tyres when they get hot. But I wouldn't let that put you off! Just don't get hot!

This modern coat doesn't look too bad in the pix but personally I would want to see one before I shelled out my cash. There's plenty of modern repro and "vintage style" stuff that looks fine in the pix but turns out to be badly made of poor materials.

In general i always go for the original. The only modern stuff I buy are things like LVC jeans where the price of originals (if you can find them) is way beyond my league.

Yes, that is most definitely a copy of the WW2 Motorcyclist's coat. I have two BSA M20 military motorcycles, and I have accumulated all of the correct uniform parts. Despatch riders really did have a very good-looking selection of clothes to wear-The Pantaloons, the three-strap boots, the leather jerkin, and the mac to top it all off. The mac has leg straps inside to keep the coat from flapping around as you ride, and it is most certainly a heavy coat. That Sportsman's guide one might be a good one to wear to avoid ruining an old original.
