Wedding Tuxedo Help

I'm searching for a one-button, peak lapel (preferrably grosgrain) tuxedo for my upcoming wedding. I fell in love with the Brioni tux in Casino Royale, but my budget is in the $800-$1000 range. So far I'm having a tough time finding anything in that style. Everything I come across seems to be either two-button or notch lapel. The two options I'm looking at now are the Hugo Boss "Cary Grant" tuxedo and a replica Brioni made by Magnoli clothiers.

My question is regarding the quality of these suits. I've heard good things about the quality of Magnoli, but are they "quality" as compared to other online tailors or as compared to top notch tailors? I've also heard some disparaging things about Hugo Boss. Are they of poorer quality than a Magnoli?

Lastly, are there other options I'm likely to find in the Chicago area? Unless I'm having the suit made to measure, I'd prefer to try it on rather than go the online route.

Keep an eye on Brooks Brothers. Their 1818 tux line is decent quality, and there is peak lapel, one button model in it. It's a vented jacket though, which I don't like on a tuxedo. They frequently have big sizing gaps though. J Press also has a one button peak lapel model for sale, but your only option for them is probably online, as I don't think they have a store in Chi-town.

I had mine MTM by Duchess in Portland, OR. I think that they can do it without meeting you in-person. I got exactly what I wanted: worsted wool, single button, grosgrain facings/details, no vents, nice big peaks. Fits like a glove. That was about 5 years ago, and I think their prices may have changed, but I THINK it could be done for $1000. I don't recall.

Traditionally you are not to wear White or Black tie attire for a wedding, because it is meant for things at night or in the evening. Morning-wear is the Traditional choice.
Brooks Brothers has MW in its Golden Fleece Collection, but it is 500 over your budget....

You could go Vintage.

Absolutely right, Marc. But not just in South America -- I've only just returned from Los Angeles where I attended my niece's evening wedding. I've always thought evening weddings were quite smart, and never really understood the custom of morning weddings.

I think I am on safe ground in saying that most weddings in the US are in the evening. 7:00 is the traditional hour. In fact, one of the ways I recommend couples save some money is by having the wedding at an uncommon time, either in the morning or early afternoon. Generally you can reserve reception locations for lots cheaper, AND you get the added benefit of your guests not getting black-out drunk and mumbling awkward things during toasts, because the early hour shames all but the most dedicated alcoholics into relative sobriety.

Peak Lapel Grossgrain tux It is single button, unvented and on sale. They also have the Grossgrain bowtie and cumberbund. You will of course need to purchase the Self Tie Bow Tie seperately. With all of the other accessories including shoes you should come in well under budget.

I have their tuxedo separates satin peak lapel tux and have been very happy with it. I was even able to find a black formal waistcoat in lieu of cumberbund.
