Volcanic ash rant...

Hrmph...

I actually took the time and learned to pronounce the name of that Icelandic volcano that put Europe into standby mode about three weeks ago - and what did I get in return?

Nothing! Absolutely nothing!

Around the time when the Eyjafjallajökull lost its temper and started to blow clouds of ashes into the controlled airspace over Europe, I was expecting two items I won on the 'Bay:

One scarf from Ebay USA, shipped April 14.
One suit from Ebay UK, shipped April 20.

And now? What do I have?

Nothing! Absolutely nothing! :rage:

I'm not really expecting them to arrive here anymore. I think they just got lost in the chaos resulting from the ash cloud. The sellers were very helpful but couldn't find out anything about the stray items. I'm afraid that was it.

So I've become the innocent victim of a natural disaster!!!

*sigh* :(

Why, oh why...? [huh]

Ok. Rant over...

This would have been the suit:

And the scarf:

Sometimes when despair has reached its peak and you're starting to think that there won't be a way out of it, then suddenly there comes a light flaring up in the dark to guide you... I think I just had my stocks of hope replenished.

Just a few minutes after I posted this little rant of mine the scarf arrived!!!

I already posted a photo in the WAYWT thread.

Maybe, just maybe the suit will arrive as well...? Please? :D

I have you beat by a couple days. I purchased something from the Netherlands on 10 April. It was shipped on 12 April. Today is 3 May. I am still waiting for it.

Hang in there. We'll get our stuff soon. I hope! ;)

That's a beautiful suit.

A very good friend of mine who's a member of a femal chorus left to participate in a music festival in Europe the first week of April. She was supposed to come back in a couple of weeks, but ended up spending an extra week in Vienna  Told me she is afraid of this month's credit card bills :eusa_doh:

Have patience, my friend. I have no less than ten packages filled with vintage goodness coming to me from the USA. Because i had them all sent registered, USPS was happy to tell me that all of my packages are in safe keeping at some terminal in America. Now I'm just waiting for the day when all of those packages arrive at the same time. Oh joy.

It is your understanding that trans-atlantic cargo is still backed up and leaving holding areas a bit at a time?

The woman at usps told me that they had huge piles of stuff waiting to be flown overseas. 1-2 weeks of mail is a lot. She told me that I could expect 2 weeks of wait after the ash-clouds have completely gone away.

I bought a USGI liner for my M-65 jacket on the day after the volcano erupted. The seller posted it by normal USPS airmail to the UK on the 17th April and it arrived with me on the 28th April. I wasn't expecting it to be here until at least this week :)

Interesting. I had one item reach me in normal time (eight days from France) while another (from the Netherlands) still hasn't reached me in almost three weeks. Both items were sent within a couple days of each other.
