Ok before I start I know many of you will get shivers and start screaming when they hear "second life".
But hear me out.

As you may know I have a 1930s lifestyle, nothing modern in my house, no tv, no mobile phone, no washing machine, no microwave, etc.
But I do have a computer because I need it for my work.
To test out my new macbook I downloaded something called 'Second Life' because I needed to see if she could handle it.

"Second Life' is a virtual online 3D world that you can walk trough and meet other people.
ANYTHING is possible, your imagination (and sometimes the law) being your only boundaries.

Now of course I hate this thing right away, lots of modern 'avatar's, modern music, filth, etc.
But then I did a search for 1920s, 1930s, etc and discovered a retro or nostalgic scene there.

Anything is possible so imagine this forum (as chatting is the main thing happening there) but in stead of just our photo with a story you can see a 3D version of yourself in nice 20s clothing and as you chat to your friends you can dance the charleston while listening to 1920s music and you're not watching a forum but a 3D version of a nice 20s bar.

Anything is possible, so one day you may fly the Hindenburg, sail on the Normandie, fly a spitfire, etc, etc.

Well I went in looking around disliking the place and now love it, so why not give it a try anyway.

I decided to build a 1920s Berlin Neighbourhood, people 'live' there, we have a club where I get to play my personal 1920s music, people dance and mostly we talk about history, fashion, etc.
It is a interesting experience!
I am using it as a educational tool as well, spreading the madness of history ;)

Check out Second Life, take some time to find out how it works, look for 'the 1920s Berlin Project' and join us there for a virtual drink and dance.
Have trouble finding your way?
Look for me, I am Jo Yardley and willing to help.
