Attention fellow size 44 gentlemen who have a hard time finding vintage suits I am going to be selling off many of my 1950s suits. This is due to a combination of me having some additional unexpected expenses this year and also my tastes moving away from 1950s suits to 1930s style sportcoats and flannels. I have 6-7 three and two pieces, either British or H. Freedman made for Saks 5th Ave.

1955 Anderson and Shepard three piece:

Classic British cut and style, in mid-weight stripped fabric just like the fabric on morning dress trousers.
It is a lovely cut vest/waistcoat with four pockets and two darts on the each side on the bottom so the waistcoat really gives you classic lines when you wear it.
The trousers are classic British with double forward pleats, flap less coin pocket. One distinctly un-British feature is that this one has two rear pockets! Button fly, slight fishtail back, suspender/brace buttons.
Jacket:
Shoulders 18.5
length 31
sleeve 27
chest: 24
Vest: chest 22, length 24
Trousers: 20" flat (40), inseam 31 (cuff and 1.5 hem)

Price: $300 plus shipping (16 US, 50 international)

Two piece brown Saks 5th Avenue, by H. Freeman
Similar in style as the one above and made for the same person.

The wool fabric has a fine crosshatched pattern as shown. The jacket features a three-button front & notched lapels with boutonniere hole. Buttonholes are hand-done. Four buttons at each wrist (all jacket buttons are dyed mother-of-pearl), three pockets, & ventless sack-style back. Body is partially lined in a silky dark brown shadow-striped fabric with 2 interior pockets (inside one of them is an Amalgamated Clothing union label dated 1949), & sleeves are lined in a silky ecru material. The double pleated-front slacks, pants or trousers have two side pockets, one key or watch pocket, & two welted back slash pockets, one with button; 1 & 1/2"H waistband is notched or split in back as shown. (Inside waistband has six white suspender buttons.) Seven belt loops, metal "Gripper Zipper" with hand-finished fly, tapered legs with 1 & 1/2" cuff bottoms.

Overall, both pieces are in good vintage condition. As shown in close-up photo (with dime for size comparison), there is a 1/4" darned mend near the bottom of the jacket's front right side. Some of the mother-of-pearl buttons have edge chipping. Inside sleeve lining has original owner's name written (DH Drukker Jr.), & some faint perspiration staining. Ivory cotton waist & pocket linings of trousers have age yellowing, & one pocket lining has a 1" brown spot.

MEASUREMENTS: Jacket is 31 & 1/2"L from mid-shoulder to bottom edge * Shoulders 20"W between sleeve seams & 21 & 1/2"W between outer edges of shoulder padding * Sleeve 25"L, with 17 & 1/2"L inseam * Upper Arm about 18" around * Inside armhole almost 20" around * Chest 48" around. Pants have a 39" Waist (can be taken in if needed, OR let out, as there is a 1 & 1/2" allowance along either side of the center back seam...I PRESUME that a tailor could expand the waist up to 2 additional inches while leaving a 1/2" seam allowance...please check with your alterations professional) * Length from waist top to hem bottom 41 & 1/2" * Inseam about 31 with a false cuff (less 1 inch hem)* Hips/Seat 52" around * Front Rise 14 & 1/2" * Back Rise 20 & 1/2".

1950s H. Freeman for Saks 5th Ave.

Similar style, made for the same gent as the two previous H. Freemans, but he's gone more "Cary Grant/Continental" and away from the previous Mr. T style of the last two.

Late 1950s style here. Heavy gray herringbone pattern tweed. 3 button, angled pockets (no flap), single vent,
trousers forward pleats, coin pocket belt loops and suspender/brace buttons, zip fly.
Jacket: shoulders 18.5, length 31, sleeve 26, chest 23
Trousers: inseam 30, cuffs (less than 1 inch hem), 19 flat (38)

Late 1940s or early 1950s British 'Boldlook/Wideboy' blue DB suit

Class late 1940s early 1950s British version of Bold Look double breasted suit. Fabric is an amazing blue with a small square pattern where the blue alternates with red, and other colors. The jacket also has a quilted/padded chest like you see on some morning coats. Label has been cut away, looks like "W. Evans and Sons" or something.
Jacket: chest 23.5; sleave 26, length 30, shoulders, 18
Trousers: inseam 31 (1.5 hem), 19.5 (39)
This was wonderful trousers with button fly, double forward pleats, coin pocket with flap, and side zip waist adjusters. Suspender/brace buttons. I had to replace the old elastic shirt stays (the rubber had fallen apart).
