Let's see your favorites.

"Expensive Women" 1931

"Street Scene" 1931

I'd like to see the back of this suit.

"Rebecca" 1940

A lot of wonderful clothing in this movie.

Not a suit, but this wonderful overcoat had a center gusset down the back.

"It's a Wonderful Life" 1946

Can't see this suit too well, but it looks great.

Nice little SB PL number with two breast pockets! Patch pockets at that. Can't remember if this was a belted back or not.

Also check out that plaid suit on the right.

Brighton Rock (1947)

Who else saw "Brighton Rock" on TCM last evening?
Set in the period between the wars, Richard Attenborough's (Pinkie Brown) suit caught the eye.
Single breasted peak lapel, belt-back, and, how to describe the rest?
A triple-darted-pleated-action back shoulder? reminiscent of an Oviatt men's suit shoulder treatment, but in spades.

Both of Bogie's suits in The Maltese Falcon:

I plan eventually to have replicas of these made for myself.

My self I think I like Roz's outfit better ;)

I have always loved the three piece number Stewart wore in "Magic Town"

Believe you me, I have other favorites... and I'll have to find a way to get photos of them... they're on VHS still and I'll need to figure out a way to get them... lots of suits Gene Raymond wore in "Transatlantic Merry-Go-Round"... beautiful clothes in that one!

No one else has favorite movie suits? I'd be surprised...

Too hard to choose, but I liked what I saw when I re-watched "Chariots of Fire" recently. Classy, distinct, and vintage w/o looking "costumey".

P.S. Thanks for the movie titles, I was able to add a few of them to my Netflix que.

I agree with the Maltese Falcon and Singin' in the Rain.
I also tend to enjoy Warren William's and Wiliam Powell's suits.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Yes, looking back on it, for the time period in which it was made, CoF was well above the norm when it came to reasonable period accuracy.

Awesome!!!! Very 1940's Hollywood...

I just checked the movie and not only is the jacket a belted back but it also has a bi-swing back.

I think it's my dream suit.

I also like Gary Cooper's suit in Mr. Deeds Goes To Town:

It doesn't appear to be anything special, I just like it for some reason.
