This is a vintage 1940's Montecristi panama hat, in the Optimo style with the crease down the middle of it. The sweatband, and ribbon are all original. The sweatband says "Boynton's Palmer House Chicago". Boynton's was a Men's store in the Palmer House Hotel, which was the first four star hotel in Chicago.
It's in terrific condition, recently reblocked by Graham at Optimo. He graded it as a 525+ weaves per square inch, and the weave is quite straight and regular. It's a very nice ivory colored patina, as a result of being around 60 years old. Graham appraised it at $700.
If it were my size, I'd keep it for myself, but it fits a 7 1/8 to 7 1/4, and has been sitting in my closet for around 6 months. I just want it to get worn.
I'd be willing to take $200 for it.
