There's another thread that mentions these, but I thought it would be nice to assemble all the vintage examples in one place. If you've got 'em, or even if you've just seen 'em, post 'em up.

That Stack is a great hat. So lightweight and soft. I think a stiff wind could completely change the crease on it. I can only seem to pull it off when my face is as furry as the felt.

This is such a great shot, that it inspired me to do some artwork on it, knowing that Spencer is a fantastic artist himself, I hope he don't mind. [huh]

That same type of cloth backed imitation leather sweatband was found on most inexpensive straw hats of the time. I've also seen it on some cheap vintage wool-felts. Most have cracked and curled as to be almost unwearable.

This is the first I've seen that kind of sweat on what appears to be a very nice, quality felt hat. What's the rest of the quality like?

Very high quality which is the case with all old Hückels. This one was made during WWII so could be due to rationing. Here is another photo.

The printing on the cloth sweatband is faded; I had to wet it to bring it out:

The sweatband has a rubber-like backing. There's no liner; I'm not sure there ever was one:

Awesome! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap

The sweatband is beautifully sewn into the hat. Does the sweatband stitching go around the cord reed or through it?
