And he's actually wearing hats? That's something c.1954 college boys didn't really get into. (NOTE: Wardlaw went on to become a Presbyterian pastor and an admirer of C.G. Jung. He's still around [sans suit and hat], and gives lectures.)
I wish more of my students would upgrade to this standard of "sloppy" dressing!!
Curious as to what that jacket is... it has all the styling cues of a G1, but I'm pretty sure it's not leather. Military-inspired commercial jacket, presumably.
The new Don looks like such a dork; this should appear on Lileks or somesuch. Bring back the beat Khakis Don; at least he looked comfortable.
Note the not-so-subtle message. "Don is from Little Rock, Ark. And boy, doesn't he look it! Let's get him looking appropriate for this bastion of culture lol lol , Columbia."
AOM's present day content hacks me off more than some puff photo feature from 1954. It portrays manliness as just the most conventional kind of excellence.
Better some young male take his cues from AOM than, say, Maddox. But there are a world of choices not allowed in.
