And what is "demob" as they keep labeling things? It is great at least when posts in the forum like this one are labeled small, then they always get my attention. Good for me it's too short.

A "Demob Suit" is a suit issued to a man leaving the army - "demobilising". He would get a suit, a shirt, a hat, a tie, underwear (?), shave kit (?), etc. Basically all the stuff he needed to set him up again in civilian clothing. They were despised, apparently, for their out-of-date styling.

The little white label in this one shows it's a true "demob" suit, not just a suit from the 40s. Most of the suits described as "demob" are not in fact demob suits.

I think I will sew some brown buttons on my grey pinstripe suit jacket.

Do I remember you're in London? If so, go to Button Queen, one of the few places with a good range of corozo buttons … the same type that would be on the suit that started this thread.
