I just carry on with life as normal, and ignore the whole thing, although I do make a point of not going anywhere near pubs/restaurants.

But otherwise it has to be the obvious pampering things,
long luxorious bath
good movie
and Ben and Jerrys

:)

When I was single I got all my other girlfriends together that didn't have a valentine and we would become each others valentines. We would dress up and go to a movie or spend the night in eating pizza and watching movies. Those were some of the best valentines I have ever had!

When I was single and particularly depressed about it that year, I decided to send myself flowers from a secret admirer. No one needed to know that I was admiring myself with a giant batch of lilies. I was so tired of all the ungrateful young ladies complaining - "my boyfriend sends me the wrong color, or he only did this or that." I felt naughty with my secret and laughed to myself when everyone was all abuzz with "Who's her secret admirer?" Instead of feeling sorry for myself I felt like I was pulling one over on people. Of course - I have a warped sense of humor - so take that for what you will.

Now even though I have a BF, he's not particularly romantic when it comes to the day. So I have decided regardless to have a nice meal planned for myself, to spend the extra 15 mins to make my hair perfect that morning, and to take a long bath that night as well as doing my nails. If he happens to come up with something - great - if not - I refuse to be disappointed.

Good for you, The Shirt.

Girls complaining about getting flowers reminds me of a joke. A woman found her husband in bed with someone else and demanded an explanation. The husband said she was homeless and needed a coat, so he gave her the old coat that she (the wife) didn't wear anymore. While he was at it, he gave her his wife's red tennis shoes that she said were too bright, and some other clothes she didn't wear. Then the homeless woman said, "Wow, thank you! Is there anything else your wife doesn't use anymore?"

When I was single it never bothered me a jot after age 19. Just more commercialisation. Since then and generally married, ditto. From now, and whether married or not, ditto ditto. Just more commercial pap to make you feel bad, or good, or just spend money. Call me a party pooper, but I'm a little cat with a big cynic in me when it comes to all this.

I'm not single, but I may as well be when it comes to Valentine's Day. lol Due to my husband's profession, he is rarely home for Valentine's Day. I think he has only been home maybe once or twice in the 13 years we've been together. And to top it off, everytime my husband tried to do something nice (bless his soul) for Valentine's it would somehow get ruined....FLowers wouldn't arrive, or they would send something completely opposite from what he ordered, all kinds of crazy things. Not to mention that Valentine's Day falls on the day before payday, which meant we never had money for it. lol So we stopped celebrating Valentines Day, and if we felt like it, we would do something, usually on the 17th. Now we don't really bother. We do stuff for each other all year long, and a special day for it just seems silly.[huh] :) Besides, I much more enjoy the flowers for no reason, than the ones for a day marked on a calender.:D

Of course, we do special stuff for our daughter, but that's it.

I will get my roots dyed and visit a friend of mine who's also single.... And that's it. I don't know it doesn't really bother me, I almost forgot about valentines day... I mean, It would be nice if I would get soemthing for V-day one day...(never got anything ever in my life, the only guy who ever bought me flowers was gay..... -_-) but well.... Never stop reaching for the rainbow, right?

I know that there are many guys crazy for me, and that's all I need by now lol

I'm not really technically single, but I am what feels like millions of miles away from my boyfriend right now.

Despite all that, some girlfriends and I are going to London tomorrow! And one if them is going to buy a bottle of champagne and some strawberries for us to pamper ourselves with. It's probably going to be the best Valentine's Day ever!

I can see myself having a conversation with my Siamese, Harriot, about how much it sucks. Otherwise, I will probably just go about my day... have an extra piece of candy at the gift shop at work, and have a picture of my husband on my pillow at bedtime :(

Well, gee. Monday was my ex's 50th birthday, and I completely forgot about it until my mother reminded me. (That's what mothers are for -- to remind you of stuff you'd just as soon forget.) And I had no idea Valentines' was upon us until I saw this thread. I plan to work tomorrow night as usual, pack up the outgoing film for shipment as I do every Thursday night, and when the courier from Technicolor shows up to pick it up about quarter to ten, I shall lure him into a mad passionate tryst behind the concession stand. Unless he's that schmo with the ponytail -- in that case, I'll just go home, have my gruel, and go to bed.

I'm going to French class, then my stupid-I-don't-wanna-go science lab, then babysitting for my boss, so he can be romantic for his wife. I'll have two kids as my Valentines!
