Two Eastman Californian Jackets different color, different size.

The 44 was the first to arrive, it shows little sign of wear and has not been completely broken in, only a little creasing in the sleeves. It is a sweet horsehide and will certainly age nicely with wear. The 46, on the other hand is nicely aged with beautiful graining, and creases, it has been well taken care of and feels like an old friend when wearing.

I like that both jackets are relatively light weight with the 44 coming in just under 4 pounds, and the 46 coming in just over 4 pounds. The drape of the 46 is a bit looser, there is room to layer, while the 44 is a more trim and tighter fit clinging to my torso nicely.

I have taken off a bit of weight and lost the pot belly, with all the swimming, and feel that this is a bit like goldilocks and the three bears. I couldn’t have gotten into the 44 a few years ago, and the 46 is a bit loose.

I generally like loose and long and the 46 checks those boxes well. It is really pretty leather and feels quite soft yet sturdy and strong. The stitching and construction is excellent on both jackets, and lives up to ELMCs reputation

Knowing that fit is very subjective and everyone has their own opinions and preferences I welcome any discussion on which one to keep. Please don’t hold back. Let me hear your thoughts

Here are the specs on each:

Havana Brown 44 Eastman Californian
Pit to Pit 23 1/2 inches
Shoulders. 19 inches
Back length 24 inches
Sleeves 26:

Walnut Brown46 Eastman Californian
Pit to Pit 25 Inches
Shoulders 20 Inches
Back Length. 26 inches
Sleeves 27 inches

Lets hear it, one of them is going back on the market.

The most sticking difference visually for me it’s the length. I prefer the shorter one. But I like the darker colour more. Though decision :D

44" for the win! The 46" looks entirely too big. Halfbelt is a neat fit. Baggy halfbelt bad, trim fit halfbelt good. This is the way. This isn't a jacket to layer under. It's super light, easy to wear....no need to fit a heavy layer under a 2.5oz hide.

I prefer the look of the lighter coloured one overall, except that it looks a touch short in the sleeve. THat's to my own taste, though - if you're happy with the sleeve length, it looks a better fit overall to me, unless you're keen to save room for a chunky sweater.

I like the look of the lighter one, and it’s a better color on you IMO, but the sleeves are a little on the short side. Their Extra Long sizing is 1 inch longer in sleeve and length, right? Might be worth holding out- seems like that would be the sweet spot.

I'm exaggerating now. 44 is show-off and fashion. 46 is experience and confidence. Given the fact that this is leather vintage jackets in the tropics, the answer suggests itself... 44 :)
