Turntable with IPOD dock

Has anyone tried this out, it looks too good to be true, especialy as people run buisnesses charging $25.00 per vinyl album to be transfered, this sells for $249.00 (Australian)

Retro enough and can play LPs and/or convert them to CD. One model even plays cassettes and iPODs, as well as LPs. My wife is giving me one for Christmas, but it's still going to be a surprise. No I can convert my old Percy Faith LPs to CD and then to iPOD.

I have been looking at this unit for too long. I have many 78s, LPs and tapes that are not played because they are not on CD (I know, Rob, too lazy!). At least it LOOKS vintage! This thread has given me the boost I needed.

Can't a good-quality turntable that you can use cables to feed it into the mike port on a computer soundcard be a cheaper, easier way to import the records and convert to digital format?

crosley version.

I purchased the forties style crosley one, black tolex covered suitcase style with large handle in front and removable lid. Plays well and has the usb port and etc, have it on a table in my office and listen to records while i do paperwork, like this one isnt so plastic like the other ones. crosley keepsake usb turntable cr 249 . I spent nearly $200. but things are more expensive here in Canada and i bought it from a record store and didnt shop around much do to time restraints. 59Lark.

stereo to computer connection

the Ion is less expensive probably because it doesn't have the dock, they have that one too [looks the same & probably made in China...] but you really don't need that, the USB MAC /PC connection is quite sufficient or if you already have a decent turntable & stereo that you can use then go this route [better because you are connecting your stereo directly to your MAC or PC so you can play your collection of 'vintage' audio cassettes too lol read the instructions please
