Tie bars - yes, no, and how high?

Do you all enjoy wearing these? Some people really seem to hate them. Also, where should you position the bar? Is it acceptable to have it showing over the top of a buttoned waistcoat?

I used to wear them fairly regularly. Anymore, they mostly make me feel fussy unless I am pretty well duded up. I reach for a collar bar more often.

When I wear one, I make sure to put it below my rib cage. I don't think it should show over a vest. I also put it on crooked - sloped a little bit down from the clasp end. It should blouse a tie and show a bit of flash, not staple your tie in a stiff position.

There are no strict rules (that I obey ) for where the tie bar needs to be clipped. Put it wherever you like.
I tend to wear mine just level to the top button of the jacket.
