I bought this on EBay for $10!!! It is from Harold's which I understand was a high -end men's clothing store in Dallas. The jacket is made in Italy.

It is not too loud, is it? Obviously needs a good pressing.

I hope you don't me making a comment. I like the jacket. Lovely colors and the style looks great on you (if that's you). I would have the sleeves lengthened if you can.

That is not me, by the way, but good eye! The sleeves are measuring 23". I take a 24" sleeve. Supposedly, there is 1.5" to let out in the sleeves. I haven't received the jacket yet so I hope the seller knows what he is talking about. For $10, paying for tailoring isn't an issue.

Thanks for your comments.

I like it, and if I wore cheques I'd personally wear something like it. I like the flat side pockets as I dislike the modern trend on suits for slanted pockets. I also like the flat breast pocket as it means you can fold a pocket square into a TV fold, but that's just my personal preference.

I think it's a fantastic find for 10.

I have a few local Goodwills I check out now and again and pull Ralph's good stuff for 5 to 10 bucks now and again.

Sometimes I look at your avatar and think that's a penguine-ish nose... then I notice it's a cigarette.

Definitely a good find, especially if you're questioning it.

That is to say, you should wear it and get used to it, becoming more comfortable with patterns that you may have thought "too loud" in the past.

Looks like the lapels would roll nicely to just above the second button if the top one were undone.
Yep, the lapels seem to be resisting that top button.

Thanks for the support on this buy -- now I have to show it to the wife and explain how it was only $10 though I have many coats and suits, etc... :eusa_doh:

What material is it made from? Somehow it looks as if it might have some silk content, in which case it would be very comfortable in hot weather.

If it contains silk I would think the opposite. Silk tends to have heat retaining properties while being lightweight. An amazing feat of natural engineering. :)

It is a silk/wool blend though I am not sure of the percentage. It should arrive tomorrow. Yah! And silk does retain heat...silk shirts are sweatfests!

Silk has heat retaining properties?

So, when I put my couple of silk shirts and silk blend jackets away with the seersuckers I'm all out of whack? I should be wearing the things in cooler weather? Are you guys funning me? How did I get the silk only in summer idea? Miami Vice! I need to consult with other down home folk on this: Calling Atticus Finch or Mr Charleston Bows. What say ye?

I've only ever experimented with silk in the line of a kimono or two and a dressing gown, not shirts, but my experience with those (oh, and a cuopel of silk scarves also, one of which I am wearing today) confirmed what I have been told at several silk factories which I have visited in China claimed: keeps heat in in the cold, and cool in in the heat. Of course, I find that as with so many words of received wisdom, the actual effect can vary greatly from wearer to wearer, suggsting that a goodly portion of it all is psychosummatical....

ETA: In any case, nice jacket!

I've had a few Dupioni silk suits/sportcoats/odd trousers and find the opposite to be true. [huh] Personally, the comfort range is around 60-80°F and low dew-point (55°F or lower) or a similar climate controlled environment.

IIRC, silk has a talent for soaking up water - and sweat. That may be why, IME, it feels cool to the skin.

60 - 80F makes sense to me.

That range of temperature makes sense to me, sir. In the stinking hot summer silk shirts, even though marketed by the Tommy Bahama set, are just too hot. As it nears Thanksgiving, here in North Carolina, silk seems a bit too much like summer. Still, I think I've been putting up the silk/wool blend jackets way too soon and leaving them there too long. I appreciate the advice.
