@Powerband .. Im not sure what size youre after but there's a size 40 for sale on the IH forums.. half price

https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=13289.0

EDIT..
I see you posted there asking a few questions.. Lol. I'll leave the link in case anyone else is interested..

Boyo—thanks man. Yes, half the price for having been worn only half a dozen times. Practically new; it was written elsewhere that this jacket creases and patinas within a few wearing, quite quickly.

Any case, I had been reading for a couple weeks about various jacket makers that are featured in the link below, which includes Iron Heart in the 3rd (higher end) group at the bottom of the article. And it just so happens the Iron Heart jacket came up for sale for half the price. Here’s the link to the various makers:

Haven't handled either but from what I'm seeing here, IH all the way.

If I know anything about leather jackets, IH seems like a super high quality jacket, made by a very experienced maker. Frankly, that Gustin CR is an amateur hour. Looks like someone's first take on a Cafe Racer.

IH's got the pocket placement right, actual shoulder gussets that aren't just for show which is something most makers can't get right even today, sleeves that zip up tightly, nice shape to the jacket... It's just a fantastic looking, straightforward Cafe Racer so between the two it's no brainer.

As for whether you should get something entirely else instead is completely irrelevant. Comparing this jacket LW or whatever also doesn't make any sense as the jackets don't even resemble one another. TBH, other than being a Schott clone, LW's CR is a pretty lame looking jacket while Langlitz CR doesn't even resemble this distinct style. Aero makes a damn fine CR and that's the only other jacket I'd consider for this style. Same price plus you can mod it any way you like so it's a fair contender.
RMC also makes a different jacket, maybe High Large and that other Japanese maker but again, it won't be a better jacket.

But! All this is irrelevant!

If you like the IH, get the IH. I'm like 100% sure you will not regret your decision. I'd go as far as to say that you actually cannot get a cafe racer that's substantially superior, if at all, by any maker - but like I said, that's just my opinion based on the photos and videos of the jacket.

Again, maybe I'm way off but... I honestly believe I'm not.

I mean, come on! I'm challenging anyone to go through this thread and find me any other jacket in this style that completely outclasses this IH.

It's funny but SE really doesn't so the jacket any favors on their site. I mean they should've just posted a shot of the back to match this^

Do you mean something like this?

I do agree—their website contains images that are either too staged or images that are uninspiring. It seems the interesting elements of this jacket make an appearance after a little wear, and they should feature those on their page.

Buy the jacket on the IH forum...do it now. Don't wait another second. Seriously those pics change things. At least from my point of view!

I've tried this jacket on new - at Snake Oil Provisions - just a few months ago. I thought it was very high quality though I personally had a few reservations:

  • I'm a (1) chest pocket and (2) hand warmer pocket cafe kinda guy. Personal preference.
  • Wasn't a huge fan of the side zips - for no reason - just wasn't used to them.

That's about it........ The leather is amazing.

They don't do any custom orders so even just deleting one of the chest pockets is not possible. If you're cool with the layout, go for it.

It’s quite remarkable that, after some reading, my perspective on this IH jacket also experienced a rapid revolution.

Man if you scored that jacket for 1/2 price you've done very well...I amend my first post...this looks to be a very nice jacket indeed. Please post some proper fit pics when it arrives so we can see it (and then sell them to Self Edge) so that they might be better able to showcase the jacket!

Boyo and ton312, the deed is done.

Congratulations. I've no doubt that if the jacket fits, you'll find it to be to be all that. And more. I mean, just look at the gussets! I've only seen this on Vanson's V7. And the waist zips are a really cool touch.
