Don't be fooled by imitators.
I've got something for everyone: lint-pockets, high-rollers, mountain climbers, cap boys, nuns, ranchers, librarians - you name it!

I'll be adding to this thread every now and again with a new item or two. Prices are negotiable unless stated otherwise, and buying more than one item will certainly save you some money.

All prices include shipping in the continental US.

I'll ship anywhere for actual shipping cost.

1. Lee Royal Beaver Finish, size 7 3/8, $75
welted edge, fuzzy finish (velour-ish, not long hair), jet black
I have no idea why the sweat says the hat is made in Canada, while the size tag says US.
crown and brim measurements to come

I'm just moving out the goodies that don't get regular head time. I've long expressed that I'm a wearer, not a collector, so if I'm not wearing 'em, they've got to go.

3. Stetson Exposition Medal Velour, teens-twenties - 7 1/2, but fits like a 7 3/8, $225
The ribbon was replaced sometime before I purchased the hat.
The felt is in great condition (no divots) and cloth sweat is secure.
This is not a snap brim. Instead, the brim does a great little dip that is very difficult to explain to anyone who hasn't experienced it. Check out the fit pics (the last one in particular, and you might see it.

Here's the thread on Stetson-Exposition-Medals and the thread on satin/velour/long hair finishes.

Stitching through the tags probably confirms that the ribbon isn't original.

Thanks. I love it, but I don't wear it. Pretty soon, I hope to be down to my ideal - 4 hats - if I have the willpower.

4. DC-3 and Strat Pins - The DC-3 pin is the one that came with the Stetson Stratoliner Hat (there are three of the DC-3s pictured here), but the true Strat airplane pin is even harder to find and probably more suitable to the hat. Make the hard decision, buy both.
$45 EACH or two of your choice for $80

1 DC-3 pin sold, 2 DC-3s and 2 Strat pins still available

5. Brooks Brothers Italian milan - 7 1/2, $100
This is a top-notch vintage milan - the real deal, not "genuine imported milan" (=hemp or other nonsense). The braids are tight and in perfect shape. There are no stains on the perfect purple pleated pug.
The hanging 7 1/2 tag fell out when I flipped the sweat to expose the inside label and there's a little oxidation where the "reed" connects.

6. Royal Stetson DeLuxe Vita-Felt, 7 3/4 Extra Long Oval - $300

Vita felt is very rare. Hats this size are very rare. As a vita-felt in this size and condition, this hat is probably one of a kind.
The grayish blue felt and ribbon are spotless. Aside from two dropped stitches on the sweat, it's pretty darn close to being new.
This is a very lightweight hat, akin to a Strat. The leather sweat is very thin, but flexible, and the liner is the thinnest I've ever seen.
Here's a discussion I had with Jimmy the Lid as to the feel of the felt, sweat, and liner.

I stuffed the sweatband of this hat to wear it, which has not affected the shape of the sweat at all, but shows that, if you're a 7 1/2 and you want to, you can wear a bigger hat. Sizing strips will be included if requested.

This generation of vita-felt was only around from the early 40s to about 1946, so if the 40s if your idea of the golden era of hats, this one is for you.

7. Brooks Brothers felted edge, 7 1/2 - $100

Pros - Very pliable, dense felt that takes and holds a crease; who doesn't love a Cav edge?; supple sweat; what I consider to be perfect proportions for a hat.
Cons - Wear at the pinch and along the top from the old crease, but nothing deep; nicked up reed casing, but it's just cosmetic; spotted liner from the old sweat guard; musty smell - it came with the hat and I've never bothered with one of the many methods used to remove it.

Cons notwithstanding, the felt on this one if fantastic, and there's nothing like a Cav edge.

8. Stetson 50 year commemoration plaques from 1915 - $50 for the one with the loop, $100 for the one without the loop
The loop appears to have been added at some point in the medals history.
These are very, very rare.
Read more in the Stetson Stuff thread.
