After putting this yesterday I went for a quick snack last night at fast food chinese restaurant.
I am not kidding when I say I saw not one but 2 people dressed in their pajama bottoms. One in house shoes. I will not even check my mail outside without dressing. What is wrong with people? :eusa_doh:

I guess pink bunny slippers will replace wingtips to complement this new fashion look.

My overall assessment: If you want to look like a fool, then this look is the one to go with.

Hmm... So I guess these my friends are the cool guys now, right? (midnight shopping at the local mall, without me)

Neoteny

It's a biological phenomenon that is a major factor in evolution. The extension of the infantile state longer and longer. It actually helps long term development. The longer an animal can remain in an infantile state, the more it can develop in a protected envioronment. However when applied to humans there are often hilarious and ludicrous results.
La Medecine has pointed out that the natural trend in clothing since the year one is that underwear evolves into outer wear. It's nature's way.

Instead of jumping off the deep end (though i know it is some people's favorite pastime) we might try to understand what the designer is trying to say.

Catwalk fashion is, after all, hardly meant to be worn on the streets.

Why, for example, should a man not wear a long flowing coat of exquisite brightly coloured silk? Quite often referred to these days as a robe.

I was surprised to see people travel on airplanes dressed like this.
What gives? [huh]
However if these were trap door jammies, the appropriate caption might have been "The end is in sight!" ;)
Edit: I just clicked through the entire slide show (108 images). There are a few fun outfits there. Probably none that I'd wear, but a lot that I found amusing, fun, interesting, whatever.

So I did a while back. Boy, is your memory long, dhermann1, I better be careful of what I say around you :p
Our exulted kimono started out as the underwear of the aristocracy's clothes waaaay back when--like the 10thC. However, then, it was flax and white, but along the way, during its journey finding the way to the top most layer, it developed into silk from flax, and aquired colorful motifs and designs from its original whiite.

Back to the subject on hand--I have actually seen the husband of a very elderly couple in what can only be construed as a robe, pj and house slippers, shopping at a local supermarket with his wife who was dressed in clothes fit to go out, not once, but several times. They did not look like they were short of money, either. [huh] However, with my most recent encounter, the husband was in regular clothes, so maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt that he had been ill or something of the like  :p Still, that's the only case I remember seeing people in PJs outside their homes, so maybe we're still ahead of the game, though I'm not sure how long it will last. :D
