A Los Angeles radio station I used to be able to get down here in San Diego, KNX 1070 AM, used to play a show every night at 9PM called "The KNX Drama Hour". The show featured vintage radio shows such as "Dragnet", "Sergent Preston of the Yukon", and "Jack Benny" among others. They used to play two half-hour shows per evening. Appearantly, this show didn't get enough listeners for them to continue playing it, even though I started listening to it in the early '90s, and listened for years, it stopped airing.

Does anyone know where to find shows like this anymore? I'm hoping that with the advent of XM or Sirius satellite radio, there is something like this out there that I can listen to after work. I really miss Dragnet, Box 13, The Green Hornet, and X minus 1.

KNX 1070?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ More boring talk radio!

I used to listen to the Drama Hour every night! Some times I would take a brake from a dance and walk to the car just to hear Jack Benny on Saturday nights!

The reason why they stopped the old time radio programming isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t because a lack of listeners! It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s because of the fires a few years ago that they felt people could have used MORE news regarding the fires then one hour of refreshing entertainment! I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m sure the fire victims might have enjoyed a little vintage radio programming to take their mind off of the tragedy of losing their homes. But, of course you know that these large AM Radio stations like to think for every one else and just change their programming all together. They had the Drama Hour for so long it was like killing an endangered species!

540 AM (If you can find it or get it) plays vintage radio shows I think at 8-9 or something like that. But, if you have satellite radio, you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re going to be just fine! I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t remember the number but, I know there is a station that plays only old time radio shows! Also, if you just put in ?¢‚Ǩ?ìThe 40?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s?¢‚Ǩ? you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll get good 40?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s big band music all day!

Satellite radio is the way of the future I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m afraid. Its bad news for us radio collectors! There really isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t anything worth listening to any more!

Hope that helps.

Channel 118 on Sirius is what you are looking for. Not only do they have many of the radio classics like Dragnet, Fibber McGee and Molly, The Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, Jack Benny and around 100 other programs; they also are doing new radio plays of the original Twilight Zone episodes using current celebrities.

Only The Shadow knows... they have a similar station on XM too, great stuff.
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

That's the way I remember it many, many moons ago.
