I actually had a conversation with the architectual salvage guy who saved much of the original interior.

Folks interested in seeing or purchasing should hit PROVENANCE at 1610 Fairmount, about two blocks from the Divine Lorraine.

This makes me so happy to hear that a building of this size will be restored! I read a comment on that page about the photos... the person said:

Beautiful building, I think we really lost touch with modern stuff.

Hmmm.. I don't know. I get on and off the subway right there by the Divine Lorraine. I haven't seen much being done. Maybe all the workers are inside right now.

Just an update. I've been keeping an eye on old Lorraine in hopes that she will be restored (and really it's in a prime location—right on broad, quick walk to center city, Fairmount subway stop right out front), but I haven't seen any activity. Right now a lot of "luxury" lofts and condos are having a hard time moving their wares in Philadelphia. Though the economy is turning down, Philadelphia housing prices are magically staying up (too high, I feel). It may be sometime before we see a new Lorraine.
