Sunscreen?

Hello darlings! Let me apologize in advance if this is a silly question, but I am absolutely clueless when it comes to sunscreen. For the longest while I have been back and forth reading reviews about which sunscreen is best to protect the face, but I only find myself more and more overwhelmed by all the options and conflicting opinions about them. Since summer is right around the corner, I want to buy a good sunscreen but have no clue which one to get! I'm especially confused about SPF levels - is SPF 15 or 30 better? I like to keep my routine simple, so a moisturizer with a built-in SPF would be preferable. It would be a great help if you ladies could share with me which sunscreens you use and recommend! :)

The higher the number, the higher the protection. So, SPF 30 gives you more protection than SPF15. Look for one that is body part specific. I have really sensitive skin so I have to use one made for just faces. I'm not a hot weather person so I don't have to use sunscreen as often as most people. I stay indoors when the weather gets hot. Baby sunscreens seem to be really gentle too. You might try that.

Good luck and protecting your skin NOW will keep you beautiful when you get older.

Davita makes a good sunscreen that I use. Sunscreen just isn't for summer, it's year round even on cloudy and rainy days. Cover your face, lips, ears, neck, chest and any body part that is exposed. Reapply every 4 hours.

I like neutrogena's sunscreens. One point is that it takes about 20 minutes for sunscreen to absorb. It's much safer to let it absorb before you exposure yourself to the sun. SPF is an indicator of how long your protection will be from burning. If you'd normally burn in 3 mins, SPF 15 would keep you burn free for 45 mins. There is an upper limit in hours before you have to reapply, no matter what.

Good point CS. Because of my skin being so sensitive, I only use sunscreen when I'm going to be outside for any length of time. I keep myself covered up with hats, long sleeves and such.

I use nutregina SPF 100+ it doesn't protect techniqially any better than 30 or 45. But I am half Cuban and I brown quickly and like to remain my pasty white self. Anyway I mix the sunscreen with my moisterizer so it goes on more smoothly. I put it on my ears, neck and chest. Everything else gets copper tone baby SPF 75

I use tinted moisturizer or foundation with SPF in it...usually nothing under SPF 15 for that. Right now I'm using Stila for both of those and am pretty happy with the results!

For exercising outdoors, I use SPF 50, and zinc oxide is the best coverage for that. Doesn't really work with makeup, as zinc oxide is white, and it doesn't blend very well into the skin. But for pure protection it works well for me.

You girls are great! Thanks for all the suggestions :) I am going to try out some of the sunscreens you all mentioned to see which works best for my skin. Thanks again! <3
