I wanted to post this seperate from the Sunbody association, due to it being a tour through the warehouse here in houston.
I am excited to say that this was a great experience, and everyone at Sunbody hats is amazing. Excelllent customer service. My new hat was shaped their at the store, its insprired from a portrait of Claude Monet's Straw hat. I had the opportunity to see where they add the ribbon, and shape the hats. Also where they block them, as well as set them aside to dry. I did get to see some very nice hats drying and waiting to be packed up to get shipped out.
It takes approximately 14 hours in order for one straw hat to be sown together (these are the 4 inch brims). It takes 4 of the 50 foot rolls which i am posting a photo of a 50 foot roll of the palm leaves. One palm leaf is split into seven and then braided by the woman in the town when they don't have things that they need to do.
The quality is exceptional. I also found out that ALL of the hats come to them Open crown. They will also do any custom order, and also encourage to hear new ideas.
I also had an amazing opportunity to see the new mexican straw fedoras that are not on the website nor have they been listed. You all will get the chance to see both of these models in the photos below. I hope you enjoy these photos, i had a blast. Thanks again to everyone at Sunbody Hats, i will definately be buying several more straws from you in the new year. I also am the first person from the Fedora Lounge to take a tour of their shop, so they took a photo of me in my new Straw hat and are placing the photo on their blog, definately felt privaledged.
