Strange 1946 Anderson and Sheppard jacket

I'm not thinking about buying this, or indeed recommentding it, just looking for opinions. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I've seen the odd DB notch lapel jacket before but not from somewhere quite as prestigious as this. And with button-in shirt cuffs!

Would it be part of a suit? Or a blazer? Maybe part of a uniform?

Any ideas?
