Straight to Hell Apparel: any thoughts on these bad boys?

Halfway down the page and you'll see their pretty nice looking motorcycle jackets. Seems to be of pretty good quality, and they cost about two and a half. My two cents: I don't like that they reversed the sides of the front zipper, but it's possible they didn't want to find trouble with Lewis and their current reissues(?)

Some weird colors, too!

Welcome Tyler,

For the price it's a nice enough looking jacket, but its strange that they've put the zip on the girly side?! Its not unisex, its a womans jacket. Other than that it looks to be a reasonable copy of a Lewis Leathers Lightning, but I'm sure the quality of the leather and construction isn't going to be anything special for 250.

Quality can be hit and miss in that price range, though I've had some really nice jackets at rhat peice, and even cheaper. Not on a par with my Aeros, but still. Visually, these look like pretty good copies of the Lewis designs. A decidely "British" vibe, imo, as compared to, say, a Schott Perfecto.

Not sure what's going on with their zips; they very definitely are on the ladies' side. Reversed images, maybe? Of course, they could simply have decided to aim for the ladies' market.

Honest opinion? I think they look horrid. But I don't get (and never will) the men's skinny jeans craze either. It's like men are willingly emasculating themselves and trying to dress like women. I don't get it and reject all the metrosexual androgynous fashion popular today. Probably why I grow a beard, lift weights, and stick with classic men's styles.

But to each their own, we all have to look in the mirror and like what we see in the morning.

I loved my drainpipes, right up until middle age spread caught up with me. Now I look like humpty dumpty in 'em, alas. The ones I favoured were actually cut for men, though, hence i did not need to wear them lower than my waist for, eh, practical reasons like the supposedly unisex cuts popular now.

The design of those jackets, as based on Sixties Lewis and others, the drainpipes, combined with the brand name (Straight to Hell... a Clash song) indicate they are aiming at a market that favours some of the signature styles of the punk rock class of 77. They've got a good handle on the visuals, actually.

Yes, they are made with punkers in mind, hence the low price and the wild colors. coming from that background, i know a lot of those cats skoff at paying upwards of 600 (or more) on a brand new schott, so keeping them relatively cheap was a good idea on their part, and ive heard theyre of pretty good quality. They claim its buffalo leather, which i hadnt heard of being used in leatherwear until hearing about them, so who knows what kinda reputation the stuff has. they do claim right on the site that "This is for riding or this is for rock 'n' roll," although again i cannot myself attest to the thickness of the leather. my roommate actually just ordered one, so ill get to see how it is firsthand pretty soon. i admit i tried my hardest to nonchalantly influence him to get a Straight To Hell jacket specifically so i could compare it to my Perfecto, as that price point is hard to beat. But its such a sin how they bungled it all up by not making the zipper on the male side, as it pretty noticeable and distracting style wise for a man to wear a lady's cut jacket compared to a woman wearing a mens jacket, which is pretty frequent anyways...
