Spray Starch for a hat stiffener?

Since spray starch works on heated items...would a gentle steaming and a bit of spray starch bring the firmness back to a floppy hat? I am guessing that "hat stiffener" sold is not much more than starch.....???

Hat stiffener...

I use spray 'Sizing' which leaves no sticky residue. I have sprayed it on first so that the felt hat is moist but not soaked. Then I steam the hat and shape. When the heat evaporates the the moisture the shape and stiffness remains. The brand I use is 'Faultless' and I can get it at the dollar store! -dixon cannon

I've only used spray starch to put the stiffeness back in hat liners. I used squirt on hair spray as a stiffener, and it worked fine.
