Doesn't come much more English for sporting weatherwear than 'Grenfell.'
This rare short body cycling jacket (also got used for golfing) was made by the famous firm of 'Grenfell' in the mid 50's and was popular with cyclists in the numerous Club outings around Great Britain. Similar to the other iconic 50's cycling jacket 'Greenspot Nomad' by Bertram Dudley, the Grenfell fabric is essentially the same as 'Ventile' (a closely woven cotton fabric that is waterproof and breathable that was originally developed for RAF aircrews during WWII to help preserve life if ditched into open water).
Lovely vintage 'Aero' full zip with a Deco style fantail design.
This jacket is in wonderful 'ready to use' condition and would ideally suit someone with a chest size of 38 to 39".
But 'please' refer to the measurements below.
Measurements are as follows:
Armpit to Armpit 21.5" (54.5cm)
Armpit to cuff 17" (43cm)
Collar back to bottom hem 25" (64cm)
Across shoulders (dropped shoulder) 18" (45.5cm)
This is ideal for your vintage cycling, or even on the golf course! But an early 50's jacket like this is getting rare now, as they were garments to be used against the elements and in sporting activities, so did get worn to death. This one shows hardly any use.
ONLY £50 GBP ($84 usd) & Actual postage (it's not that heavy).
