I'm not a stranger to the hip-hop, lindy-hop, mod, 80's, industrial or most any club inbetween... I like going out and hitting the coctail, Hollywood and, well parties.
I've noticed that the style of entertainment is starting to hark back to that golden era romance we liked. Some may read this and say I'm off my rocker... Rock clubs being one of the styles of club that I less frequent, though I'm not.
I have been watching and listening to the newer Christina Aguilara videos. Watch Gwen Stefani and you'll know she's always had that 40's style to her. Outkast is probably three years past talking about with their style, though it's staying power is staying.
Going to the Edison Downtown on weekends is like walking into a Blade Runner version of a 20's nightclub with floor shows featuring flapper clad dancers and gogo gals in the rafters.

There hasn't been a better time to respect the romance of the eras gone by while taking advantage of the advances that our current world has to offer. I think it's truly time that style came back and blended in with now. Time when jeans weren't accepted as the uniform for everywhere and people started looking for wooden furniture again.
Anyway... Showmanship goes along with all of this. They put alot of money into the Edison club and I think too many places cut the corners.
I'm going to the Cicada club on April 1 to see Maxwell Demille put on a show that's not to be missed. Was a time (back when my father was young) that you could go see a good show and have a dinner at a place like the Coconut Grove. Now it's gone... though showmanship I think is coming back and it's about time.
