Tough to narrow, but one would be the dress I'm wearing in my avatar. It's a 40's ivory crepe column, floor length, with two, capped maribou sleeves, severely bateau-ed neck, and scoop back. If an occasion would arise where I should find myself being married *cough*, this is the dress. (Which is weird and disturbing that I already have it, but it was gifted to me by my Grandmum, so it has lots of meaning.)

Other than that, these:

Clear, vintage, molded purse.

Wiesner cuff in perfect condition. It has a beautiful weight to it, looks dynamite with the dress to the left, and makes me feel fully capable of taking over the world.

I don't have a photo of it, but I really like my c. 1919 cameo. It's a real, carved cameo set in rose gold. The silhouette is rather Greek looking--there is a laurel on the head.

I suppose my most precious vintage item is my Grandmother's charm braclet. You can see her wearing it in this photo and me wearing it when I recreated the same photo.

Lita, both pictures are absolutely stunning! I am in awe at how well you captured the image of your grandmother. Excellent job and what a gorgeous bracelet.

Like Paisley, I don't have a picture of my most precious vintage item (and it's tucked away for safe keeping at my parents', so no picture for awhile - kinda defeats the "show" part of the thread, oh well). It's a lavalier style necklace in a lovely flowing art deco style, with a small pearl dangling from the metal of the necklace. It was my great grandmothers (making me think it must be from the 1910s), then my grandmothers, then my aunts, and now mine. My great grandma was from an Eastern European immigrant family with not much money, and so it's not like the necklace was one of her many pieces of nice jewelry - makes it even more special. It's beautiful, and has great sentimental value.

I wish I had a picture!

Wow, you all have such wonderfully precious things. Lolita, every time I see that picture I'm amazed. What a great thing to have, and I think it's so sweet that you did that.

I have a few vintage item's that are very precious to me. But the most precious is my Great Grandmothers Le Coutre watch. My mom had 2 of these just sitting in her jewelry box in the house. For years, she thought they were costume. She gave me one and said I could have the other on another special occasion. I took it to a jewelry to get it cleaned, he said I needed to take it to a specialist. I had no idea why. Turns out it's platinum and diamonds. I thought about not telling my Mom, for I feared she'd want it back. But I did finally let her know, for it wasn't such a good idea to have the other one just sitting in her jewelry box, uninsured. She was actually very happy and never asked for the one she gave me back. I'm not sure if I'll be seeing the other one any time soon, but I'm thrilled to have this one.

I also have 2 diamond brooches from the early 1900's that also belonged to my Great Grandmother. There is a long story and a lot of history behind them. They are part of a set of 4, 2 medium brooches and 2 large ones. My sister got one of each on her wedding day.The other two are in a safety deposit box, and the first time I will be allowed to wear them is on my wedding day. Although, my Mom's beginning to wonder if she should change that rule, given my current relationship life!

Wow Daisy...that's...amazing.

As for my hats those are my most precious purchases. Family heirlooms are a different story entirely. My most precious is a set of pearls that are from my paternal grandmother. I received them when she died. They need to be restrung though. I'm going to look into doing it myself as I trust no one with those pearls.

My maternal grandmother gave me this:

She said it is an antique broach. But I haven't the foggiest how to wear it. [huh] Any ideas ladies? That's how it came to me.

Unfortunately I don't have anything really special seeing as no one in my family kept things around. Terrible! Well, actually, I do have family photographs and a vintage mannequin head from the early 40's that my dad gave me, so those will have to do! Oh, and there's a Super 8 camera that was my grandfather's in the late 50's that still has half-used film in it. I still wonder what was captured on that film and if I'll ever be able to find out.

So I guess I do have some family heirlooms, just nothing wearable.

You can get the film developed, there are still places where they do that! But super8 film, like any other film will they have an expiration date. So, maybe just give it a try. It's not that expensive!

i have a few (sorry, i can't post just one!), and they were all my grandmother's.... at one point, i had a ginormous emerald and pearl necklace that she gave me and it was stolen. i'm still heartbroken to this day.

an amethyst (my birthstone) brooch that she gave me. it also has a loop on the backside of the top to wear as a necklace.

a deep blue cloisone brooch of unknown origin. it has what looks like arabic script on the back, so chances are my grandfather picked it up in his travels for his importing/exporting business.

on the class ring, from Huntington High School in Huntington, VA. dated 1926. it is so small it won't even fit all the way on my pinky. my parents have her 2 baby rings in a lock box, which were given to me at birth, and they're not much smaller than her class ring. so tiny!
