Dear all

I thought I should draw your attention to this little gem of a museum dedicated to the aircraft of the Battle of Britain, fought over the skies of Kent in 1940. The museum, run by volunteers and donations has a permanent display of Battle of Britain memorabilia, a tea room and hosts events such as flypasts and signings by Battle of Britain veterans from both the RAF and the Luftwaffe. If you are ever in Kent do pay them a visit, or see their web site here, The Shoreham Aircraft Museum, and consider becoming a Friend of the Museum.

I've had the pleasure of visiting that museum on two occasions. It's in the picturesque little village of Shoreham, near Sevenoaks in Kent. Geoff and Leslie Nutkins hosted us, and their hospitality is second to none. Geoff is quite the aviation artist as well, and I'm proud to have several of his prints in my collection. The museum is one of my favourites. By the way, the pub just down the street is a nice place to pop in for a pint...

I was about the comment along the lines of "I didn't know there was a Aircraft museum at Shoreham, just the D-day museum", before realising it's Shoreham in Kent, not Shoreham-by-Sea (which has an airport - the worlds only pretty airport, I might add)

I did a double take also, since there is an infamous Shoreham on Long Island, where an infamous nuclear powerplant was built and then decommissioned at staggering expense.
Looks like another spot to add to the must visit list.
