I'm working on a 1940s short-sleeved button-front blouse with a shirt collar. I'm making it from a soft, very lightweight, almost sheer silk voile. Should I interface the collar and under the buttonholes? I have some old sheeting (from worn-out bed sheets) that I thought would work well -- it would support the collar & closure without making those sections too stiff & heavy. On the other hand, the rest of the blouse will be very sheer (worn over a camisole, of course) & the difference might be too obvious.
What would yo do? I'm trying to create a garment that is as authentic as possible. Have any of you ever seen a "real" 1940s blouse made from very sheer fabric? Was it interfaced?
Thanks!
