Sewing in a sweat?

All,

I'm sure I've seen instructions for replacing a sweat, but my search skills must be lacking tonight.

Looks like I'll need to replace the fake leather sweat in a costume hat in order for me to tolerate wearing it for extended periods of time. Naturally, I'd prefer to replace it with a leather sweat instead of cloth, but I don't want to spend a pile of cash on a novelty hat either. Hopefully there's a vendor who sells sweats at an affordable price.

Can someone point me in the right direction for, um, directions?
